Inter goalkeeper: 'I only fear God, but God is not on the field'

Turkey Goalkeeper Andre Onana is confident ahead of his Champions League final clash with Erling Haaland.

"Very good. That's football," Onana said when asked about the prospect of facing Man City's 52-goal scorer Erling Haaland this season. "I'm afraid of God in this life. But I don't see God on the pitch."

On the evening of June 10, Onana and Inter will meet Man City in the Champions League final. According to bookmaker Ladbrokes , Man City has a higher chance of winning in 90 minutes, with odds of 2/5 (bet five to win two). Meanwhile, the odds for Inter are 7/1.

However, Onana is not in favour of the majority. The Inter goalkeeper believes that Man City are under pressure to prove they are the best team in the world right now, and it will not be easy to do so in the final. "We are not under any pressure," Onana added. "We are not under any kind of loss. History speaks for Inter, having won the title three times."

If the score is tied after 90 minutes and extra time, the two teams will go to penalties. Onana is ready to save Man City's penalties. Besides, after the finals of the Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup this season, he is more confident in Inter's ability to win.

"I'm not afraid of any opponent, not even Man City," Onana said. "We are all big players and know how to play in a final. We will be there, it will be difficult for us, but so will they."

En route to the final, Inter eliminated Porto 1-0 on aggregate in the round of 16, Benfica 5-3 in the quarter-finals and Milan 3-0 in the semi-finals. Onana and his teammates finished third in Serie A, but won both of their remaining domestic titles. They beat Milan 3-0 in the Italian Super Cup final, then beat Fiorentina 2-1 in the Italian Cup final.

Man City's path to the final was somewhat more difficult than Inter's. After beating RB Leipzig 8-1 on aggregate in the round of 16, Pep Guardiola's team eliminated Bayern 4-1 in the quarter-finals and last season's champions Real Madrid 5-1 in the semi-finals. Domestically, Man City won the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Haaland is Man City's top scorer this season. With 52 goals in all competitions, the 22-year-old Norwegian striker has won the Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe awards. He is also the Champions League's top scorer with 12 goals, eight more than Inter's Edin Dzeko.
