Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by India's Financial Crimes Investigation Agency on March 21 in an excise case. Kejriwal, leader of the AAP party, has repeatedly failed to comply with summons from the authorities involved in the case.

Officials went to Mr Kejriwal's home for questioning in connection with the liquor policy case and read out an arrest warrant, after a court refused to grant him protection against coercion.
According to the Times of India , Delhi police have deployed security around the chief minister's home.
AAP leader Atishi Marlena Singh confirmed Kejriwal's arrest and said she would move the Supreme Court to quash the arrest warrant. She also said Kejriwal would remain Delhi's chief minister and would rule from jail.

AAP supporters protested outside Mr Kejriwal’s house. Raghav Chadha, a leader of the party, said the arrest warrant was a conspiracy ahead of India’s parliamentary elections, which officials recently announced would be held in stages from April 19 to June 1.
Mr Kejriwal's arrest means key AAP leaders are now behind bars, following the arrest of two of Mr Kejriwal's deputies in the same case last year.
The agency, known as the Enforcement Directorate, is investigating allegations that a liquor policy implemented by the Delhi government in 2022, which ended government control over liquor sales in the capital, gave undue advantages to private retailers. The policy was later revoked.
