Thai Binh and Hai Phong have just announced the third exam for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.
In the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools, Hai Phong has chosen Foreign Language as the third subject. Candidates can choose one of the following languages to take the exam: English, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
The foreign language exam is multiple choice and lasts 60 minutes.
Similarly, Thai Binh also chose English as the third subject for the 10th grade entrance exam.
Up to now, except for Vinh Phuc, which maintains the combined exam, the provinces and cities that have announced the 10th grade exam plan all choose to take 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language. These provinces include: Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Duong, Can Tho, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Thai Binh, Hai Phong.
Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, also said that this year's 10th grade entrance exam will take place with three subjects: Math, Literature and English.
In previous school years, the 10th grade exam was given to local authorities to take the initiative, including the number of subjects. However, 2025 is the first year that students under the new general education program (2018 program) graduate. The Ministry of Education and Training believes that there needs to be consistency nationwide.
In the regulations on secondary and high school admissions from 2025 issued in early January 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training clearly stipulates that the entrance exam for grade 10 includes two compulsory subjects: Math, Literature and a third subject (or a combined test). This subject is selected by the Department of Education and Training from subjects assessed by scores, but a subject cannot be selected for more than three consecutive years.
The Ministry requires localities to announce before March 31, to facilitate students' review.
