At this tournament, Mr. Tuan completed the 100 km distance in 9 hours and 47 minutes - a proud achievement. It is surprising because his main job is currently a gifted teacher at Trung Vuong School. Moreover, for nearly 20 years, he has been an athlete and coach of Karate - Do, bringing many medals and high achievements to Quang Tri sports...

“I started learning Karate at the age of 8. When I reached the level of First Degree Black Belt, I continued to study Karate at the University of Physical Education and Sports in Da Nang. After graduating from university, I participated in training for the Karate movement in Quang Tri town. In 2012, I was elected by Mr. Duong Manh Hung (currently President of the Quang Tri Karate Federation, Head of the Nghia Dung Karate Branch in Quang Tri province) and prestigious people of Karate - Do Quang Tri to hold the position of Head of the Nghia Dung Karate Branch in Quang Tri town until now.
In 2018, I officially started working at Trung Vuong School with the task of teaching the optional martial arts subject for students. This is a lucky thing for me because in a professional working environment, I still have the conditions to promote my strengths and maintain my passion for Karate. In addition to inspiring students with excitement and sportsmanship, I always want to challenge myself with many other subjects, both to improve my health and to participate in developing the movement. That is also the reason why I have come to running in the past few years," Tuan shared.
At Trung Vuong School, Mr. Tuan established a Karate Club and maintained regular activities with 50-60 students. Along with his teaching work at the school, he also maintained and developed the Karate-Do movement of the Nghia Dung Karate Association in Quang Tri town with the number of students from 80-100 each year, some years up to nearly 200 students and is one of the strong Karate associations in the province with many outstanding achievements...

In consecutive years from 2004 to 2010, at the Quang Tri provincial Karate tournaments, Dang Vu Tuan won Gold Medals in the men's individual kumite event.
In addition, he also won many medals in the team kata category. With his strong point in competition with a steady mind and decisive moves, Mr. Tuan extended his personal achievements with 1 gold medal at the 2006 National Student Karate Championship in Bac Ninh; 1 bronze medal at the National Suzucho Championship in Hue; 1 gold medal in the men's individual Kumite category, 50 kg at the Karate Championship, Provincial Sports Festival. Since 2011, when he started his coaching career, Mr. Tuan and his students have contributed to Quang Tri Karate achieving many impressive and outstanding achievements such as: First prize for the whole delegation at the Provincial Sports Festival in 2013; Second prize for the whole delegation at the Provincial Sports Festival in 2017 and 2021, along with many achievements at provincial Karate tournaments.
At Truong Trung Vuong Karate Club, despite many difficulties and interruptions in training time due to COVID-19, Coach Dang Vu Tuan and his students have achieved some encouraging results at the 2023 Provincial Karate Age Group Championship and the 2024 Dong Ha City Phu Dong Sports Festival.
We asked Mr. Tuan if reaching the Top 4 at the recent "Da Nang Ultra Road 2024" Race was a bit of a "breach" for a Karate coach, and he said: "Actually, martial arts and running have many things in common.
It is the spirit of never giving up, the will and determination to overcome one's own limits. At first, when I got used to the marathon, I was also confused, but thanks to the health and spirit of a martial artist and the guidance and help of Mr. Le Quang Hoa (a good athlete who has participated in many marathons nationwide and achieved many impressive results), I have confidently conquered longer distances."
Although he admits that he is just a "runner" for the movement, the achievements that Mr. Tuan has achieved are very commendable, notably reaching the Top 2 of the 35-39 age group in the Long Bien Marathon 2023, 42 km distance with a time of 2 hours 54 minutes; Top 4 of the Phong Dien Half Marathon 2023, 21 km distance with a time of 1 hour 24 minutes...
“In the future, I will continue to gain experience and train seriously for marathons. I also plan to open a free martial arts class during the summer for children living near my house or in difficult circumstances so that they have the opportunity to practice sports, improve their health, and develop their talents,” Tuan added.
