Exemplary in taking the lead in difficult tasks, making many contributions when working with local Party committees and authorities to mobilize people to push back domestic violence, develop the economy, build stable villages and hamlets to ensure security and order... That is the story of party members in the highlands of Tanh Linh district, who are considered the "extended arm" between the Party, the State and the ethnic people here.
La Ngau is known as a mountainous commune in a particularly difficult area of Tanh Linh district. In previous years, the lives of the people here were difficult, combined with a low level of education, making it easy for bad elements to take advantage of it to incite and divide the people. More than ever, the role of grassroots party members needs to be promoted. Because they are the extended arms, the bridge between the Party, the government at all levels and the people.
One day in October, we followed party member Nguyen Van Thuan - Head of Village 2, La Ngau Commune, Tanh Linh District to the house of Mr. Ly Tuyet Sinh (Village 2, La Ngau Commune, Khmer ethnic group). Mr. Sinh used to be a poor household in the commune, but today his family has a much better life than other households in the village. Currently, his family is cultivating 1.5 hectares of cashew plantation and nearly 1 hectare of land specializing in growing 2 crops of corn and 1 crop of rice. Every year, his family's economy earns over 120 million VND. "To have the property like today is also thanks to the Party and the State, especially the Party Committee and the government of Village 2, who have taught me how to change my production habits for decades. At the same time, they have trained and provided me with valuable seedlings to apply in production, so my life is now better," said Mr. Sinh.
In Ban 2, the family of Ly Van Sinh, a Khmer ethnic, also has a stable life. “Thanks to the local authorities who have acted as a bridge for the Party and the State to support us. From providing loans to buy breeding cows, supporting agricultural tools, clean water... my family is very grateful to the Party, the State, especially the Party members at the grassroots level,” said Sinh.
Party member Nguyen Van Thuan - Head of Village 2, La Ngau commune said: Currently, Village 2 has 18 active party members, mainly ethnic minorities. In previous years, due to low education levels, people in the village were often taken advantage of by bad guys to distort and sabotage the Party and the State, causing disunity among the people. However, with a sense of responsibility, many ethnic minority party members have set an example in economic development, while regularly propagating the Party's policies and guidelines to the people. It is from setting an example that people in the village have learned and followed. The good news is that in 2022, Village 2, La Ngau commune had 5 poor households and 1 near-poor household escape poverty.
According to Mr. Ha Van Dinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the La Ngau Commune Party Committee: La Ngau commune currently has 100 active party members, most of whom are ethnic minority members. In particular, Party members of Ban 2 have promoted their role in local socio-economic development. Many people have become shining examples, leading in economic development; mobilizing people to comply with the policies of the Party and State, guiding relatives and neighbors to expand production and strive to get rich. Thanks to that, the economy of ethnic minority areas has continuously developed, in 2022, the whole La Ngau commune reduced the number of poor households by 19.
Not only in La Ngau, in Duc Binh commune, Tanh Linh district, the role of party members among ethnic minorities is also clearly demonstrated. Ms. Thi Yen, a Raglai woman (village 4, Duc Binh commune), is 37 years old this year but has 4 children. Her family's economy is extremely difficult when her husband does not take care of business and often indulges in alcohol. The quarrels and beatings of her husband are common, causing her family's life to fall into a deadlock. However, after understanding the situation of Ms. Yen's family, with the motto "slow and steady wins the race", party members at the grassroots level have combined propaganda and mobilized family members, relatives, and prestigious people in the community to change and awaken her husband. Now Ms. Yen's husband no longer drinks alcohol, and domestic violence has been greatly reduced. “My husband works hard to help me take care of the children. Our family is now filled with laughter,” said Yen.
Party member Nguyen Van Binh - head of village 4, Duc Binh commune said: First of all, we must set an example so that people believe in and follow the Party's policies and the State's laws. In addition, we must regularly grasp the legitimate aspirations of the people to convey to higher levels. "For cases of domestic violence, we must persevere with the motto "slow and steady wins the race" to influence the family to change their perception. When there are positive changes, we must praise them in the community in meetings such as hamlets, national solidarity days... With these methods, in recent years, the security and order situation in village 4 has always been maintained stable and together with Duc Binh commune, we will reach the NTM finish line in 2019", Mr. Binh shared.
It can be said that, with their pioneering and exemplary role, the Party members in the highlands of Tanh Linh district have been a bridge between the Party and the people in many activities. From there, they have strengthened the trust of the ethnic people in the leadership of the Party and the State, contributing to building the highland villages more and more prosperous.
