Removing obstacles at key projects in Ho Chi Minh City

On January 15, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, received Mr. Yamada Takio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam during his visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City. Also attending the reception was Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, comrade Phan Van Mai informed about the content of the working session, including updating the implementation status of projects funded by the Government and people of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as removing obstacles so that the projects can be completed and put into operation soon.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed that the city's leaders have directed with a spirit of determination to resolve the issues; at the same time, he proposed that the Japanese Government provide guidance and support to relevant parties to resolve the obstacles and issues arising objectively during the implementation of the projects. Ho Chi Minh City hopes that the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the city in implementing specific cooperation activities, especially metro projects and infrastructure development, to enhance the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Japan, contributing to bringing the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into greater depth, practicality and effectiveness.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that the two governments have reached an agreement to promote key projects on infrastructure, transportation, sustainable energy, etc., including the Metro Line 1 project, improving the water environment in Ho Chi Minh City, and building Cho Ray Hospital 2. These are projects that have lasted for many years and have revealed a number of obstacles and difficulties that need to be resolved.

According to the Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the relevant parties need to race against time to resolve the issue, in order to minimize costs caused by prolonged entanglement. In addition, it is also to create conditions and premises for implementing more cooperation projects between Vietnam and Japan.

Appreciating the frank and open spirit of the working session, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Yamada Takio said that the relevant parties must focus and devote all their efforts to promoting the implementation of the next steps of the projects.

Mr. Yamada Takio said that he had worked with the management board of the metro line 1 project and had determined the next steps to speed up the project's completion on time; emphasizing that both sides would clarify outstanding issues and find solutions in a constructive and frank spirit.
