Spreading Vietnam Book Day and Reading Culture in Long An border area

NDO - On April 18, the People's Committee of Long An province held a launching ceremony to celebrate the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 in Duc Hue border district (Long An), with more than 250 delegates representing units in the province and students in the Duc Hue border area attending.

The event aims to honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture in the community, contributing to building a system of cultural values ​​and standards for Vietnamese people.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day was born on November 4, 2021 to affirm the role and importance of books in improving knowledge, skills, developing thinking,educating and training human personality; encouraging the development of the reading movement in the community.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An, Huynh Cao Chanh, said that in order for Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day to continue to spread widely, units and localities in the province will focus on propaganda to raise public awareness of the position, meaning and importance of books and reading culture, spreading the love of books in everyone, especially the youth; continue to deploy and replicate good models and effective ways of reading, researching and applying knowledge from books to life; pay attention to investing, exploiting and maximizing resources to join hands to contribute to building a reading movement, towards a movement of learning and lifelong learning.

Provincial and district leaders and students visited the book introduction and exhibition space at the launching ceremony.

On Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025, the Long An Provincial People's Committee chose the message "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books - Enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity" with the desire to promote the development of the reading movement, giving books, replicating good models, promoting reading culture in the community, especially in remote areas, border areas; contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An and sponsors awarded scholarships to students in difficult circumstances in the border district of Duc Hue, Long An.

On this occasion, schools, youth and military units of communes in Duc Hue district organized spaces to introduce books and display books; representatives of organizations and businesses presented books to schools and scholarships to disadvantaged students in Duc Hue border district with a total value of 150 million VND.
