On September 28, the People's Committee of Long An province held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on the establishment of Long An Medical College from the Medical College (Ward 6, Tan An City, Long An).
Mr. Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee, said that Long An Primary Medical School is the predecessor of the Secondary Medical School. The school was established to carry out the task of training midwives, nurses and primary pharmacists during the war.

Then, on May 26, 1979, the People's Committee of Long An province decided to establish Long An Medical High School on the basis of Long An Primary Medical School. From here, Long An Medical High School began its mission of training a team of nurses, physicians, and caregivers with medical ethics and solid skills, gradually improving the quality of medical services and health care for the people of the whole province.
Over 45 years of establishment and development, Long An Medical College has trained nearly 14,000 doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists... to serve the health sector in and outside the province. Not only providing intermediate and primary medical human resources, the school also cooperates with a number of medical universities to train specialized classes I, contributing to improving the quality of medical staff for the province and some neighboring provinces and Cambodia.
On behalf of the leaders of Long An province, Mr. Pham Tan Hoa requested the school's leadership team, with professional guidance from the Department of Health, to successfully implement the school's development project. From professional achievements, compliance with the development orientation will aim to upgrade the school to a school that can directly train medical students at higher levels.
