(QNO) - This morning, July 3, Thang Binh District Party Committee held the 14th conference to review the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of the year and deploy directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2023.
The important content of the conference was to evaluate the development of the marine economy in recent times. Possessing 25km of coastline and located in the Southeast dynamic region of the province, Thang Binh district has focused on developing the marine economy commensurate with its potential and advantages.
Planning and infrastructure go first
According to Mr. Vo Van Hung - Chairman of Thang Binh District People's Committee, to develop the marine economy in the right direction, Thang Binh District attaches importance to planning work. The District People's Committee has directed the relevant departments to complete and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval the Thang Binh District Regional Planning.
The locality adjusted the general planning for Binh Minh urban area; implemented the detailed planning of 1/500 scale for residential areas along Binh Hai river, new urban area west of Binh Duong coastal road. The district People's Committee requested the Management Board of economic zones and industrial parks of the province to adjust the tasks and detailed planning estimates for residential areas in the south and north of Binh Hai.
In addition, focus on reviewing and re-planning the entire aquaculture water surface area; continue to plan infrastructure serving fisheries such as fishing ports and fishing logistics service areas.

From the completion of the planning, Thang Binh has invested in synchronous infrastructure to serve the sustainable development of the marine economy. The district has promoted investment in the national highway connecting to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, Binh Dao bridge on national highway 14E, upgraded Vo Chi Cong road, upgraded DT.613 route in Binh Duong commune, upgraded DT.613B route in Binh Minh commune; invested in Tay Giang bridge (Binh Sa - Binh Hai).
Thang Binh cooperated with the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to build a connecting road for the Central region, a road connecting Vo Chi Cong Street (Binh Sa) to Dong Que Son Industrial Park connecting to National Highway 14H. Investing in traffic routes connecting the district's regions and districts and cities in the province as well as connecting provinces in the Central Highlands region.
Developing coastal industry associated with coastal urban - service areas has been a strong mark in Thang Binh in recent times. Currently, Ha Lam - Cho Duoc Industrial Cluster has attracted 16 investment projects, creating stable jobs for 4,350 workers, improving people's income and life. The expanded Tam Thang Industrial Park under implementation will increase the driving force for industrial development in the coastal area of the district.
The central residential area of Binh Duong commune, the coastal residential area of Binh Duong, the residential area of Nghia Hoa village (Binh Nam), and the residential area of Tra Doa 1 (Binh Dao) are being invested in to put into operation, forming coastal urban residential areas.
Mr. Phan Cong Vy - Secretary of Thang Binh District Party Committee said that in the coming time, the district will continue to mobilize resources to develop urban areas in coastal communes and on both sides of the Truong Giang River and soon form new urban areas. "We will rearrange coastal residential areas to develop community tourism, strongly develop homestay tourism, develop experiential tourism, especially craft villages" - Mr. Phan Cong Vy said.
Diversified marine economic development
Along with industry, agriculture has developed extensively in Thang Binh district. The aquaculture production and testing area (Binh Nam commune) with projects to produce white-leg shrimp, tiger prawns, and brackish water fish with a capacity of 5-7 billion seeds/year helps farmers in and outside the district to proactively raise disease-free aquatic products.
Up to now, the district has 260 hectares of riverside shrimp farming, 52 hectares of coastal sand shrimp farming and many snail and rabbit fish farming models bringing high income to farmers.
Currently, the coastal communes of Thang Binh district have 659 fishing boats, of which 149 have a capacity of 90CV or more, operating in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa sea areas. Thang Binh has established 42 solidarity teams to produce at sea to support each other. The average annual output of aquaculture and fishing reaches 17 thousand tons, which is quite a great achievement.
Mr. Doan Thanh Khiet - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thang Binh district said that training captains and chief engineers for fishermen is focused on creating a highly skilled workforce, while understanding the laws and regulations of the State on seafood exploitation and protection of aquatic resources.
“We opened 8 captain and chief engineer classes for 287 fishermen, and provided mechanic certificates to 165 fishermen, helping the marine workforce increase their seafood catching capacity, associated with the task of removing the “yellow card” on seafood and developing sustainable fisheries,” said Mr. Khiet.
Along with the development of exploitation and aquaculture, fishing logistics services have developed quite strongly in recent times in the communes of Binh Minh, Binh Nam, Binh Hai... Recently, the district established the Binh Minh Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Cooperative; previously, there were 6 cooperative groups operating in exploitation and fishing logistics services.
Many seafood processing establishments in Thang Binh have been inspected by the authorities and granted food safety certificates. The district supports the production chain of Cua Khe fish sauce (Binh Duong), develops OCOP products of Hai Hien fish sauce (4 stars), Tam Tuoi fish sauce (3 stars) and is building and managing the Binh Minh Thang Binh squid certification brand.
