According to information from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of international tourists increased continuously in July and August despite not being in the peak season. In July 2023, the number of international visitors reached 1 million. In August 2023, the number of international visitors is estimated to reach 1.2 million, an increase of 15.4% over the previous month.

The number of domestic tourists in August 2023 is estimated at 9.5 million, down 24% compared to July 2023; up 18.7% over the same period in 2022; of which about 6.3 million are staying guests. In the first 8 months of 2023, the number of international visitors reached 7.8 million and 86 million domestic visitors.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the National Tourism Administration, the new changes in visas to facilitate international visitors to Vietnam are considered a breakthrough, removing difficulties and bottlenecks, creating new momentum for Vietnamese tourism.
Tourists also have many advantages in terms of administrative procedures, time, and itinerary when traveling to Vietnam. This is also one of the factors to attract international tourists to Vietnam as well as improve the competitiveness of the smokeless industry.

However, the leader of the National Tourism Administration also said that the most difficult point, the visa policy, has been resolved. However, that is only a necessary condition, and the sufficient condition for Vietnam tourism to be more attractive, to improve competitiveness as well as create a stronger attraction for international markets is to have a series of more synchronous solutions.
"To meet the needs of tourists coming to Vietnam in the coming time, we need to have many solutions to quickly take advantage of this new policy mechanism. Localities and businesses need to focus on investing in building infrastructure and services, launching new products to meet the needs of longer stays and higher spending of international visitors when coming to Vietnam in the coming time...", Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized.
To anticipate the increasing trend of domestic and international tourists in the coming time, localities and businesses need to be ready to prepare internal factors such as training tourism human resources to meet the demand in terms of quantity and ensure professional quality as well as foreign languages... to create quality services for customers.
In particular, localities also need to improve destination management to ensure security and safety for tourists. Combining all of these contents will create unique and attractive products and services, enhance the competitive position of Vietnam tourism as well as create great attraction for the tourism industry in the coming time.
