On the afternoon of March 31, the crew of the film "Tunnel" held an early screening in Ho Chi Minh City. During the exchange session after the film was shown, Thai Hoa shared with the audience about his role as Bay Theo.
When asked where he got his experience for filming, he said: "I met veterans and listened to them talk about the war against America of the people of Cu Chi. I also researched documents on YouTube about the war and the tunnels."
Thai Hoa said that throughout the film, there are psychologically heavy scenes that seem difficult, but if you grasp them closely, they will be simple. Like the scene where Bay Theo asks about the fate of Uncle Sau and his young comrades when they are discovered and captured by the Americans, although he does not receive a direct answer, through his sad eyes, the audience can feel that Bay Theo knows the truth.
When acting in this scene, Thai Hoa did not find it difficult but felt happy, acting over and over again, sometimes acting for himself, sometimes for his co-stars and found that filming day went very smoothly.
Meanwhile, actor Quang Tuan confided that receiving the role of Tu Dap in the film was a "privilege" for him. When he was in the film, he always tried his best. Luckily, director Bui Thac Chuyen imparted his experience and arranged for him to meet and talk with the armed forces hero To Van Duc - who contributed to the creation of landmines and destroyed many enemy tanks in the guerrilla war in Cu Chi tunnels. The character Tu Dap was inspired by the armed forces hero To Van Duc.
"I talked to him and heard about the lives of the uncles and aunts during the war. He was very nice, shared many things, and taught me how to do this and that," Quang Tuan said.
The film "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" recreates the life and fighting process of guerrillas in Cu Chi tunnels during the resistance war against the US. This project was prepared for 10 years and was released on April 4, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
