Ta Quang Thang: When I encounter difficulties, I remember the reason I started.

BPO reporter had a conversation with singer Ta Quang Thang in the program Chuyen Dong V-biz broadcast on Radio - Television and Binh Phuoc Newspaper.

Music is not trendy

PV: During the album production process, did Ta Quang Thang encounter any difficulties?

Ta Quang Thang: For many professional artists, before producing a product, they will find their potential audience, find popular music trends, and then make a product that suits the chosen audience. For us, on the contrary, we choose the music genre we love and try to produce it to the best of our ability, introducing to the public a new, unpopular, and unfamiliar music style. We do not follow trends, so the reach will not be equal to popular music. Although choosing such a difficult path, for me, the excitement and happiness of an artist is to create the product I want. I am lucky to receive the support of the audience.

PV: During the time Ta Quang Thang composed songs for the album, were there any songs born from true stories?

Ta Quang Thang: From the very beginning until now, all the songs I have composed are very real. It could be my own story, or it could be a story I observed around me. Country music has a characteristic, which is that the artist is like a storyteller, so when listening, in addition to the musical characteristics, the content of the song is like reading a diary about the stories the artist has experienced. All the personality and stories of the artist are encapsulated in the country work. That is also one of the reasons I love this music genre.

Music gives me everything

PV: In Ta Quang Thang's products, there is more or less his own shadow, that is the guitar and the arrangements cannot lack the sound of the guitar. This is a way for him to affirm his own identity, but it also means being criticized as one-dimensional, what is your opinion?

Ta Quang Thang: I can guess that. In the world, typical artists such as: Rock artist AC/DC played rock music in his 20s and still played rock music in his 70s. Or Eric Clapton, from the beginning to the end of his career, he still chose Blues. International artists always choose a passion to pursue throughout their musical career. There are still people who, after many years of struggling, still do not know what they love to pursue and live with that ideal. So for me, when I have truly chosen a path that I love and is suitable for me, that is a wonderful thing, do not give up.

PV: Many artists also choose to pursue a certain genre of music, but not everyone achieves the success they expect. Having chosen a single path for over 20 years, have there been any difficult periods?

Ta Quang Thang: I think difficulties come to any profession, not just music. But music has a very special pressure. Public preferences determine whether artists are loved or mentioned a lot in the media, which makes us worry. But music has a very special urge, when we have difficulties, we remember why we started. That initial reason will shape our style, urge us to persevere on the path we choose, which helps me overcome difficulties.

PV: Previously, Ta Quang Thang was successful with "Living like flowers", and now with the song "We only live once", is the message different from the previous product?

Ta Quang Thang: We put this song last in the album, as our confession. There were difficult times in my career, not knowing if I could overcome it, the song "We only live once" was my answer. In Shakespeare's play Hamlet, there is a passage where Hamlet says: "To be or not to be". That is the idea for "We only live once", with the passage: "So why not just live with passion/ To see where the future takes us/ One day we will know the answer/ Whether we are living or existing".

PV: Many artists have also performed live shows and concerts at important milestones to celebrate their musical journey. What about Ta Quang Thang?

Ta Quang Thang: That is something that both my team and I really want. However, I don't dare to put it into a specific schedule because organizing a music night requires a lot of preparation, and funding is also an issue. I hope to be able to organize a music night without having to worry too much, so that the artist can only focus on art.

Until now, everything I have is thanks to music: the love of the public, the source of income to live, all the close relationships with brothers, friends in the profession, the people I love all come from music. I always feel lucky because music has given me so many things. Therefore, I will always try to dedicate all my best to music.
