In 2024, in the difficult context of natural disasters and epidemics, the agricultural sector achieved positive results, the GRDP growth rate of the whole sector increased by 4.21%, of which aquaculture accounted for nearly 50%. This result was achieved thanks to the province's drastic direction in protecting aquatic resources in conjunction with environmental protection and regenerating aquatic resources, especially in strictly protected areas such as: Ha Long Bay core zone, Bai Tu Long National Park, Co To - Tran Island sea area...
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that in the context of complicated climate change, the fisheries sector still faces many challenges such as: Diseases have many developments; development area and space are increasingly narrowing; production chain linkages are not tight; aquatic resources have recovered but very slowly... Therefore, the activity of releasing seeds to regenerate aquatic resources is important in the restoration and regeneration of aquatic resources, especially endangered and rare aquatic species. At the same time, it contributes to environmental protection, ecological balance, and raising awareness among officials and people about the meaning and benefits of regenerating, protecting and developing local aquatic resources.
Along with increasing the release of fish fry, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested localities and units to focus on preventing prohibited occupations and destroying aquatic resources; reasonably developing fishing fleets in the open sea and onshore areas; organizing production in chains, diversifying farming objects; building a synchronous and modern system of fishing logistics services...
Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates released 165,000 aquatic breeds, including: Tilapia, grass carp, black carp, white sesame, bighead carp, bighead carp, common carp, common carp... Of which, the source of breeds supported by units, businesses and breeding establishments is over 112,000 (accounting for over 70%).
