On March 24, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced that his country will not resume direct negotiations with the United States unless Washington adjusts its policy toward Tehran.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Red Cross meeting in Tehran, Foreign Minister Araghchi criticized the US campaign of “maximum pressure” and repeated threats against Iran.
These moves are the reason why Tehran cannot return to the negotiating table unless there is a “fundamental change in attitude” from Washington, Mr. Araghchi stressed.
Iran's foreign minister affirmed that despite refusing to negotiate directly, Tehran is still ready to negotiate indirectly and will convey messages through these channels.
In addition, Mr. Araghchi also mentioned plots against the Islamic Republic and reaffirmed that "there will be no war" because the country is ready for all possible scenarios.
Previously, on March 23, Mr. Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said Tehran is ready to restore its commitments in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) if the parties involved do not ignore its interests.
The countries that signed the JCPOA pledged to lift sanctions on Tehran on the condition that the country curb its nuclear program. However, the JCPOA has faced many obstacles since the US withdrew from the deal in 2018 under President Donald Trump and reimposed sanctions. Tehran has since relaxed its commitments to the deal, but still insists that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes only.
