(To Quoc) - After Tet, when peach blossoms have faded, Hanoians start to switch to pear blossoms. The pure white wild pear branches, which can cost up to millions of dong, are still loved and sought after by Hanoians.
According to the reporter's records, moving through streets like Lac Long Quan, Au Co or Quang An flower market (Tay Ho district) during the day, it is not difficult to see pear and plum branches "going down the street" attracting the attention of many people.
A pear branch can bloom until the end of the second lunar month, so many people choose it to hold on to Tet, to hold on to Spring.
Sharing the same unique natural beauty as peach blossoms and plum blossoms in the Northwest mountains, late-blooming pear blossoms are brought back to the city by traders to sell to flower lovers to enjoy after Tet.
The flower is pure white, when blooming, 5 petals pop out from the rough branches, creating a wild, pure beauty. Wild pears have many shapes with many different prices ranging from 400,000 VND to 8 million VND.
Even branches with unique shapes, old shapes, moldy trunks, and many buds can be sold for up to tens of millions of dong.
No one can remember exactly when the hobby of playing with pear flowers after Tet began in Hanoi, but the sophistication and elegance of this flower variety is often more selective in its customers.
A vendor selling wild pear flowers on Lac Long Quan Street said that this year the number of customers coming to buy pear flowers is more crowded and bustling than last year.
Pear blossoms last longer than plum or apricot blossoms. Branches with many buds can last up to 2 months. Therefore, this type of flower is very popular with the people of the capital.
The woman used her phone to capture the beauty of the pure white pear flowers.
While selecting wild pear branches, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district) said that every year he looks to buy wild pear branches to display in the living room after Tet.
Some small branches are selected by traders to sell to customers who want to decorate their home landscape. The price of these small branches is usually very cheap, only from 50 thousand to 200 thousand VND.
“My whole family loves the pure white color of pear flowers. Putting wild pear branches in the house makes me feel like I can “hold” spring. Pear flowers are expensive because they last a long time, and can be displayed in the house for 1-2 months without worrying about the flowers wilting or rotting,” said Mr. Tung.
Pear and wild plum branches are brought by vendors to deliver to customers.
Although the price of pear flowers is very high, Hanoi people still want to own them, bringing the beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests home.
