Increase the rate of 12th grade students winning excellent awards

According to the results of the city-level 12th grade excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has 2,842 prize-winning candidates, accounting for 43.62%, of which first prize is 4.61%. The percentage of students winning prizes this year is higher than in the 2023-2024 school year.

Accordingly, the 12th grade excellent student exam took place on February 25, with 6,515 candidates taking the exam, of which 2,842 candidates won prizes (43.6%), including 131 first prizes (4.61%), 708 second prizes (24.91%) and 2,003 third prizes (70.8%). Compared to the 2023-2024 school year, the percentage of students winning prizes this year is higher (last year was 41.39%).

This is the first city-level exam for excellent 12th grade students according to the 2018 General Education Program. This year, the exam takes place with 13 subjects, including a new subject of economic and legal education. The time for each exam is 120 minutes. The exam content is in the 2018 General Education Program, following the orientation of assessing students' thinking and practical application abilities.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the first year the exam was organized to assess students' abilities according to the 2018 General Education Program, students demonstrated their ability to apply the subject in their work very well. The percentage of students winning prizes this year increased by 2.23% compared to last year. This not only shows the efforts in fostering key education and excellent students in each high school, but also evaluates the transformation in the efforts to innovate teaching and learning in high schools according to the new program.

Students who won first prize in this competition were awarded according to Resolution 35/2024/ND-HDND of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council amending and supplementing a number of articles of Resolution 02/2021 stipulating a number of incentive policies for teachers, students, and trainees who won prizes in city, national, regional, and international competitions and teachers with achievements in training and fostering students and trainees who won prizes in Ho Chi Minh City, with a reward of 12 million VND/student/first prize.
