Strengthening communication and reducing information poverty

Efforts to bring information to the people, creating conditions for people to access the policies and laws of the Party and the State as quickly and effectively as possible are what the Phu Ninh district Party Committees and authorities have been focusing on. The district Party Committees, authorities, and socio-political organizations have focused on solutions to promote communication and reduce poverty in terms of information. Thereby, arousing the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance to escape poverty of the people and the community, contributing significantly to the implementation of the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025, the entire political system of Phu Ninh district has always paid attention to leading, directing and organizing implementation. Along with increasing support for livelihoods and housing, the locality has stepped up propaganda and raised awareness for people, helping them access basic social services to escape poverty sustainably. Based on the directive documents of the Central Government, the province, and professional guidance of provincial departments, branches and sectors, Phu Ninh has developed Plan No. 93 on implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024 in Phu Ninh district and Plan No. 127 on implementing Project 6: Communication and poverty reduction on information in the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024 in the district. Comrade Dang Thi Hien - Deputy Head of the District Department of Culture and Information said: "The District People's Committee assigned the District Department of Culture and Information to be the agency in charge of implementing Sub-project 1 - Poverty reduction in information, under Project 6 "Communication and poverty reduction in information" under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction. We also determined that the "poverty" in information has a great impact on the ability to access policies of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction as well as issues related to life, economy and society, so we have focused on promoting communication activities through many information channels with many forms suitable for the subjects".

The District Plan sets out the project's objectives to strengthen communication, raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society for multidimensional poverty reduction; arouse the spirit of self-reliance and self-improvement to escape poverty of the people. The project also contributes to improving access to resources to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction; promote typical examples, initiatives and good models of poverty reduction to promote, replicate and spread in society. To achieve this goal, the District People's Committee organizes training for grassroots staff to improve their capacity in digital transformation; information and communication work on poverty reduction; ensure information security in cyberspace; identify and prevent online fraud... Through training programs, grassroots staff are provided with a lot of information, knowledge, skills and expertise to effectively communicate and disseminate information on poverty reduction to the people; contributing to orienting public opinion to effectively implement the goals and requirements of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period".

Phu Ninh District Department of Culture and Information cooperates with Phu Tho Newspaper to promote poverty reduction work in publications.

Along with capacity building training for grassroots cadres, Phu Ninh also focuses on promoting the strengths of the media to comprehensively reflect the results of implementing policies and projects for poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty in the district. Every day, through the loudspeaker system, the District Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communications Center also broadcasts many news and articles promoting the contents of: Sustainable poverty reduction program, poverty reduction work, economic development, production models, examples of overcoming difficulties to escape poverty... The Department of Culture and Information has coordinated with Phu Tho Newspaper, the Provincial Radio and Television Station to develop a communication plan with many contents on poverty reduction work, typical examples of overcoming difficulties to become rich, emulation movements of sectors, associations, and unions in poverty reduction work, diversifying forms of poverty reduction in information...

With the active participation of the entire political system and the initiative of each citizen, the communication and information poverty reduction work in Phu Ninh district has been achieving positive results, contributing to the effective implementation of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction. Thereby, it has gradually raised awareness, helped people adapt to the market economy, produce goods, and have the will to rise up in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction.
