On November 21, the 25th ASEAN Army Chiefs Meeting (ACAMM-25) took place in the Philippines, with the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army. This year's conference has the theme "ASEAN Army 2024: Strengthening Partnership and Friendship towards Regional Stability" .
At the conference, opinions emphasized the central role of ASEAN Armies in implementing military-defense cooperation activities, contributing significantly to strengthening friendship, understanding and trust among member countries. This not only helps maintain ASEAN's central role but also ensures a peaceful and stable environment in the region.

Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia affirmed the need to promote respect for the basic principles, core values and central role of ASEAN. He stressed that, to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation and cohesion in the future, countries need to increase information sharing on issues of mutual concern through appropriate communication channels, while promoting delegation exchanges and experience sharing at all levels.
The General also mentioned cooperation in essential areas such as humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, natural disaster response, epidemics, climate change and environmental issues. He stressed that this not only enhances the coordination between the Army forces but also contributes to protecting the common interests of the region.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia invited leaders of the Army and ASEAN defense industry enterprises to attend the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition and activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, scheduled to be held in Vietnam later this year.
On the sidelines of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia held bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei to discuss measures to promote cooperation in the future. Representatives of these countries highly appreciated the role of the Vietnam People's Army in the region and expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation in areas such as training, defense industry, participation in UN peacekeeping operations, military medicine, as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
