Strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Cuba

On the occasion of the official friendship visit to Cuba by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang from April 14-16, 2024, the working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security led by Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister, had talks with Lieutenant General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas, Politburo member and Minister of the Interior of Cuba.

At the meeting, Comrade Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas informed Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen and the delegation about the situation in Cuba in general and the Cuban Ministry of Interior in particular; thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for supporting medical equipment, fire prevention and fighting as well as staff training in the past.

Emphasizing that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is always ready to exchange experiences and consult with the Cuban Ministry of Interior on policies to build and protect the Fatherland, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will continue to stand side by side, share and is ready to give the highest support to the Cuban Ministry of Interior.

Assessing the results of cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of Interior in 2023, the two Ministries exchanged views on ensuring national security; combating crime; cooperation in drafting legal documents; healthcare; fire prevention, fighting and rescue; and cooperation in logistics, technology and capacity building training.

Sharing the view that the international and regional situation will continue to develop complicatedly in 2024 and the following years, the two sides emphasized the need to expand and strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of Interior for the interests and national security of each country.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation in the fields of security and police; strengthen cooperation in the fight against organized crime, transnational crime, high-tech crime, terrorism, human trafficking, crimes in the fields of trade, tourism, new types of crime and non-traditional security threats; and strengthen cooperation in the field of technical expertise.

The two sides also agreed to coordinate research and implementation of scientific research projects and works, application of new technologies and production of specialized equipment; and training to improve the capacity of officers and soldiers.

In the health sector, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of Interior continue to promote cooperation in cancer treatment, cerebrovascular intervention, organ transplantation; training, transfer of stem cell technology, gene technology, application of treatment methods using antibodies, vaccines...; bringing the contents, relations, and cooperation mechanisms into depth, practicality and effectiveness.
