In 2023, socio-economic activities will return to normal, vehicles will increase while traffic infrastructure still has many shortcomings, affecting the situation and effectiveness of traffic accident control and reduction. However, the Provincial Police and the Traffic Police Department have organized and implemented all aspects of work synchronously, without traffic congestion or particularly serious traffic accidents.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Hong Thai - Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police reported on the situation and results of ensuring traffic order and safety in 2023.
The Traffic Police Department proposed that the Provincial Police advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to issue documents to strengthen the direction of all levels and sectors, mobilize the strength of the entire political system to coordinate with the Police force to carry out all aspects of ensuring traffic order and safety, especially not to impact or interfere with the handling of violations by the Traffic Police force.
Regularly review and grasp the situation, promptly issue written recommendations to competent authorities to resolve problems related to infrastructure and traffic organization; closely coordinate with the Department of Transport and related units to strictly manage the operation of all types of vehicles.

The Department organized 45 propaganda sessions, signed commitments with businesses and individuals operating in the transportation business; coordinated with the district-level police and the education sector to organize 286 propaganda sessions at schools for 217,608 students and teachers on safe traffic skills and accident prevention for students.
The provincial traffic police force has recorded 33,083 violations, fined 59.278 billion VND, detained 8,110 vehicles, revoked driving licenses of 7,047 cases; of which, the Traffic Police Department recorded 9,591 cases, fined nearly 20 billion VND, revoked driving licenses of 2,398 cases, and sent notifications of detected violations to the traffic monitoring center for 12,350 cases.
Coordinate with the railway industry and relevant agencies to conduct surveys and handle self-opened crossings with railways; synchronously deploy professional measures, patrol, control and handle violations of inland waterway traffic safety and order, ensuring smooth traffic on waterways.
Conducting a general inspection of passenger transport vehicles and container freight vehicles in the province, the Traffic Police Department inspected 11,100 vehicles, thereby propagating and signing commitments with 8,500 vehicle owners and drivers; making records to handle 943 violations, imposing fines of over 1.8 billion VND, revoking driving licenses in 39 cases, and temporarily detaining 1 vehicle.
The Provincial Traffic Police Department proposed that provincial departments and branches pay attention to investing in providing a number of vehicles, technical equipment, and support tools to serve the work of the Traffic Police force; investing in 2 fixed load weighing stations on National Highway 1 and National Highway 8; upgrading software for handling violations and vehicle registration to meet the requirements of registration and handling of administrative violations regarding traffic safety and order.
At the meeting, delegates had many opinions focusing on clarifying a number of contents such as sending notices of traffic safety violations to people who have violated; the process of installing traffic safety signs on roads; the effectiveness of propaganda and dissemination of traffic safety laws to each class of people; measures to thoroughly handle encroachment on roadsides, sidewalks, and traffic safety corridors; strengthening surveys, accurate assessments, and implementing measures to overcome potential traffic accident points...

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Van Ky acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Traffic Police Department in ensuring traffic order and safety in the context of rapidly increasing traffic volume, inadequate traffic infrastructure, and low traffic awareness of a part of the population.
With the proposals and recommendations of the Traffic Police Department, the Legal Department and the Provincial People's Council recorded, synthesized and fully reported to competent authorities for consideration and handling.
Assessing the work of ensuring traffic safety is an issue that the Secretariat, central ministries, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee always pay great attention to.
