German-Vietnamese fashion designer brings to BIENALSUR exhibition an artwork inspired by "Vietnamese women's scooter culture".

The art performance with the theme "Community Life: Women in Transition" is part of the world-famous international contemporary art exhibition BIENALSUR which recently opened in La Plata, Argentina. For the first time, an artist of Vietnamese origin brought her art project to the BIENALSUR exhibition and attracted the attention of many visitors. At the show, German-Vietnamese fashion designer Tra My Nguyen brought an art work inspired by "Vietnamese women's scooter culture", in which the highlight was the image of colorful sun-protective clothing wrapped around a model motorbike or bicycle. Talking to reporters, Tra My Nguyen said that she was born in 1992 in Hanoi and moved to Germany with her family when she was young. However, she clearly remembers the details of her daily life in Vietnam as a child, such as the softness and elegance of her mother's silk ao dai or the green curtains of Vietnamese bamboo trees. Those memories have inspired her interest in learning about her native culture. After returning to Vietnam to experience, Tra My Nguyen expressed her interest in the sun-protective clothing that Vietnamese women use when driving motorbikes on the streets. According to her, this is a very special beauty that does not exist anywhere else and is the inspiration for her to create the works brought to this exhibition. Talking about her plans, Tra My Nguyen expressed her desire to continue to bring the beauty of Vietnamese culture combined with contemporary art elements into her works and perform them in front of many international friends. This is her happiness and pride in affirming her Vietnamese identity. Tomás García, a visitor to the show, was very impressed by Tra My Nguyen's works. According to him, these works evoked emotions from the combination of feminine beauty and cultural features in everyday life. The BIENALSUR exhibition, which started in 2015, is an international contemporary art exhibition held every two years sponsored by the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) based in La Plata, Argentina. The event showcases quality art projects from around the world selected by the organizers based on the criteria of contemporary humanism. At the exhibition, designers in the art field from all five continents can join together on a journey to explore questions and ideas about fine art combined with contemporary world themes to join hands to create positive changes in life. As usual, starting from the city of La Plata, the works in the BIENALSUR exhibition will be presented in different countries around the world. In the 2023 edition, scheduled to take place from July 8 to December 22, the BIENALSUR exhibition will be present in more than 70 cities in 27 countries and territories across 5 continents.
