Author Le Duy Hanh passed away

Author Le Duy Hanh held leadership positions of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for many terms and was awarded the State Prize in 2001 for three historical stage plays: "Bui Thi Xuan Hoi Ket Cuoc", "Mat Troi Dem The Ky" and "Troi Nam".

Author Le Duy Hanh's real name is Le Thanh Yen, born February 28, 1947 in Binh Dinh. He participated in the student movement in Saigon.

He began writing historical stage plays in 1980 with the script: "Ngoc Han's Confessions". This work was performed over 700 times by the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural and Opera Troupe, making an impression on Meritorious Artist My Chau in the role of Ngoc Han and artist Tuan Thanh in the role of Nguyen Hue.

After that, he composed famous scripts, which generated high revenue and were highly appreciated by experts such as: "Poisonous Flowers in the Garden" (Ngo Quyen), "Ly Chieu Hoang", "The Queen of Two Kings" (Duong Van Nga), "The Soul of Jade Poetry" (Ngoc Han), "Moving the Capital" (Ly Cong Uan), "Forever Faith" (Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Le Hong Phong), "The Divine Crossbow" (An Duong Vuong), "Night Monologue" (Ly Chieu Hoang)...

In addition, he has composed many scripts that have created breakthroughs in experimental form, script structure and ideological themes that resonate in society such as: "The Fox", "Strange Story", "Soul of Play", "Acting Alone", "Returning to Memory", "Real Idol", "Human Pain"...

Experts say he can approach every topic in his writing, thereby reflecting reality very convincingly, making the audience believe in the good things from the ending he puts into the script.

Theater experts say that over the past 50 years, author Le Duy Hanh has always considered writing as a way to express his thoughts and concerns about life, the stage and life. He has lived and worked tirelessly and left behind the flame of love, lighting up his creations for the stage to always flourish.

His funeral will be held at the Ho Chi Minh City Funeral Home (949, National Highway 1, An Lac Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City). The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. on September 7; the memorial service will be at 5:00 a.m. on September 9, followed by the procession and cremation at Binh Hung Hoa.
