In recent years, the appearance of Van Lang commune (Ha Hoa district) has been increasingly improved with wide, flat asphalt and concrete roads, rows of solid and spacious houses, and peaceful and developing villages. These results are thanks to the locality knowing how to promote the leading role of grassroots party organizations, the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and party members, taking that as a premise, creating a foundation for leadership and direction of local socio-economic development.
The squash growing model of Van Lang commune brings stable income to many local households, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.
Located in the southwest of Ha Hoa district, Van Lang commune currently has a total natural land area of 1,099.12 hectares, over 4,500 people, over 1,100 households with 5 residential areas. Comrade Bui Tien Dung - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee said: "Despite many difficulties, over the past time, the Commune Party Committee and government have always determined that economic development plays a key role in the innovation process in the locality. The Commune Party Committee has led and directed the development of specialized resolutions, the Commune People's Committee has developed plans with important policies and solutions to implement socio-economic development tasks, helping people sustainably reduce poverty".
To put the Party's resolution into practice, the commune has paid attention to investing in building infrastructure, especially in transportation and irrigation; mobilizing people to change the structure of crops and livestock; applying scientific and technical advances in production; creating conditions for people to access capital sources for economic development... Therefore, the economic structure has changed positively.
Currently, in addition to food production, the commune focuses on developing livestock raising with a herd of several hundred buffaloes and cows; over 33,000 pigs and poultry. Models of raising bees, rabbits, bamboo rats... provide stable income, averaging from 100-300 million VND/year. In addition, households have covered and fenced ponds and fields for aquaculture with a total area of 46 hectares.
With the support and encouragement of local authorities such as: Creating all favorable conditions for households to expand production scale, access loan sources to develop production, increase family income... Therefore, service industries, small-scale industrial production continue to be maintained.
Currently, the commune has 18 operating enterprises, including 10 private enterprises operating in the industry and construction sector; 85 manufacturing establishments, mechanical processing, civil carpentry, garment, food processing; over 100 service business households...
The above activities are maintained stably, creating many products to meet people's needs, attracting over 500 workers, ensuring jobs and stable income from 7-9 million VND/person/month.
From the forms of production organization, reasonable economic structure and other sources of income have contributed to increasing the annual growth rate of production value of the commune. The total average grain output reaches over 900 tons/year. The average food per capita reaches 430 kg/person/year. The average income is 49 million VND/person/year. In 2023, the rate of near-poor households in the commune will be 3.02%, down 0.87% over the same period; the rate of poor households will be 6.8%, down 0.8% over the same period.
With economic development and improved living standards, people are more united, confident, and join hands with the government to build a new life. Mr. Pham Van Phu - Zone 4 shared: “In the past, many roads in the area were difficult to travel on, muddy in the rain and dusty in the sun. In recent years, when there was a policy for the State and the People to build rural roads together, I immediately supported it, because I believe that wherever there are good roads, there will be development and people's lives will be improved.”
The positive results that Van Lang has achieved in recent times have been creating motivation and favorable conditions for the commune to continue to develop in a sustainable direction on the path of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
