During the premiere night of the play Kiep hoa trong thoi loi at Long An Cai luong Art Troupe , when the play ended, the audience still sat as if wanting to feel all the echoes that the Cai luong play left behind.

“It’s been a long time since I watched Cai Luong. This is a period play, but I found the pace fast, with many surprising elements, captivating. The play is about 2 hours long, but I feel like it goes by so fast,” said Ngo Hoang Vu (Ward 6, Tan An City).

This is a traditional opera that has just been re-produced by the Long An Opera Troupe from the original script "Nát cánh hoa roi" (The Fallen Flower Petal) by author Nam Son to perform for audiences in the province and to earn revenue outside the province. The traditional opera, with its historical character, is built on the foundation of a skillful blend of traditional and modern art, creating an appeal and attraction for the audience.

While cải lương is no longer the preferred choice among many other means and forms of entertainment, creating a play that attracts audiences , especially young people, is a huge challenge.

Director Mai Tham, director of the play Kiep hoa trong thoi loi, said that the challenge for the troupe comes not only from the changing tastes of today's audiences but also from "renewing" a script that was originally written in an old style, perspective and had a rather slow pace.

"When the leaders of the Troupe trusted me with the responsibility, I tried to find a way to both "transform" and maintain the original script's essence, especially promoting the abilities and strengths of the current artists in the Troupe," said director Mai Tham.

The play was almost completely renewed, on a "tailor-made" basis so that the young artists in the troupe could have a "stage" to perform, and could fully develop their strengths and abilities, thereby helping the play become more attractive and appealing.

The Flower Life in Chaos brings the audience a colorful play, fast-paced, with many surprising details. Some segments and music are processed in a modern way, close to the youth, creating attraction. Therefore, the play is enthusiastically received by audiences in and outside the province.

In addition to the premiere performance in Tan An City, the play Kiep koa trong thoi loi had a profitable performance in Ben Tre province.

"Good land" for golden bells

Deputy Head of Long An Cai Luong Art Troupe - People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh said that creating new plays not only helps improve the quality of performing activities but also creates a "stage" for young artists who have just joined the Troupe.

“Participating in this new play are mostly young artists who have recently joined the Troupe. Besides veteran artists such as Meritorious Artist Vuong Sang and Meritorious Artist Vuong Tuan, there are also Tran Minh (Second Prize in the National Talented Actors Competition 2023), Thu My (Gold Medal for Actors at the National Cai Luong Festival 2021), Phu Yen (Silver Medal for Actors at the National Cai Luong Festival 2024) and Le Hoang Nghi (Golden Bell of Traditional Opera 2024). You are all potential cores, talented and passionate, the next generation of the current Troupe” - People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh added.

Long An Cai Luong Art Troupe is a "fertile land" for the "golden bells" to stay, with the presence of Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi, Golden Bell of Vong Co 2021 - Le Dieu Hien, Golden Bell of Vong Co 2024 - Le Hoang Nghi.
