Slow purchasing power, chicken and duck prices decrease

(VLO) Currently, market consumption has decreased compared to before and during Tet, although the price of chicken and duck has not fluctuated much. At Vinh Long market, the price of free-range chicken ranges from 100,000-115,000 VND/kg depending on the type of chicken, male or female, a decrease of about 10,000-20,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, the price of Muscovy duck is 60,000-65,000 VND/kg, white duck is 40,000-60,000 VND/kg, down about 5,000 VND/kg compared to last month. The price of cleaning chicken is 10,000-20,000 VND/bird, duck is 30,000 VND/bird.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, a chicken and duck seller at Long Ho market (Long Ho town, Long Ho district), the supply of poultry on the market has not increased because it mainly comes from farms and breeding companies, while small-scale households raise very few. However, the decrease in purchasing power is the reason why poultry prices have cooled down compared to Tet.
