On April 7, Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced a small-scale cabinet reshuffle, appointing new positions in the ministries of foreign affairs, security and interior.

Current Minister of Interior, Federalism and Reconciliation Ahmed Moalim Fiqi has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Mr. Fiqi served as Somalia's Ambassador to Sudan and then as head of the National Security and Intelligence Agency from 2010 to 2013. He was the Minister of Internal Security of Galmudug State before becoming a member of Parliament and then serving as Minister of Internal Affairs and Federal Affairs.
The position of Foreign Minister of Somalia has been vacant since former Minister Abshir Omar Haruse resigned in December 2023.
In addition, the Somali Prime Minister appointed Mr. Ali Yusuf Ali, a member of the National Assembly, as Minister of Interior and Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail as Minister of Internal Security.
In addition, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre also replaced the heads of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the Ministry of Posts and Communications, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
