Comrade Nguyen Hong Nham - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Thinh commune shared: Phong Thinh is located in the semi-mountainous area of ​​Thanh Chuong district. People's lives mainly depend on agricultural production and still face many difficulties. However, in the process of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas, Phong Thinh has made a real "revolution". By mobilizing the strength and consensus of the people, along with support from the State, Phong Thinh has completed asphalting and concrete 100% of the main roads and inter-hamlet and inter-family roads; 2 schools and medical stations meeting national standards.

In particular, the system of cultural, sports and entertainment facilities has been invested in synchronously, serving well the needs of community activities and improving the spiritual life of the people.

Regarding Phong Thinh commune, we heard many stories about the recognition of the Party Committee and the government. Phong Thinh has mobilized the entire political system from the commune to the hamlet to really take action; cadres and party members closely follow each hamlet, each residential area and household to propagate and mobilize, especially to remove bottlenecks and weaknesses in the first days and years of implementing the new rural construction program, instead of giving general instructions.

Phong Thinh people highly appreciate the team of commune and hamlet officials, especially the leaders of the Party Committee and the commune government, who have always been concerned and increased their outreach to all levels, sectors, agencies and units to attract capital sources, actively contact and connect children far from home, and benefactors to support and contribute resources to invest in developing their homeland.

With the creative approach, solidarity and consensus of the people, since 2019, Phong Thinh commune has reached the new rural finish line and started building an advanced new rural area.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hong Nham said: Entering the stage of building an advanced new rural area, not only did Phong Thinh people actively respond to the policies and plans for building an advanced new rural area proposed by the commune, they also proactively proposed that the commune and hamlets implement and improve many contents and criteria to improve the quality of the new rural area and enhance the enjoyment value of the people. Many projects and works have the mark of children far from home, such as upgrading martyrs' cemeteries, medical stations, roads, cultural houses, installing lighting systems... with a total cost of nearly 5 billion VND.

Typically, the family of Mr. Nguyen Canh Son, a son far from home, currently living in Hanoi, donated 1.8 billion VND to build a martyrs' cemetery, upgrade the commune health station and build roads.

In the process of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas, Phong Thinh commune has mobilized a total of 167 billion VND; of which people contributed more than 97 billion VND. In the 4 years of building advanced new rural areas (2021 - 2024), out of the total mobilized budget of more than 32 billion VND, people contributed more than 18.3 billion VND.

Many people have voluntarily spent tens of millions of dong to build concrete roads, making it easier for their families to travel and making their villages more beautiful. Typical examples include the families of Mr. Nguyen Nhu Suu, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Vy, Mr. Le Xuan Thin in Hoa Thinh hamlet; Mr. Nguyen Tu Thieu, Mr. Pham Tu Cuong in Lien Son hamlet...

Comprehensive development care

Clearly identifying the ultimate goal of the new rural construction program as improving the quality of life of the people, the Party Committee, government and organizations in the political system in Phong Thinh commune have persistently implemented many economic development programs of both breadth and depth.

The focus is on renovating mixed gardens, developing hill garden economy with many types of crops that bring high income to people such as black canarium, orange, grapefruit, jackfruit...

Along with that, the locality encourages and creates conditions for people to build farms with a total of 5 farms raising pigs, deer, cows, chickens, combined with growing fruit trees; average income from 300-500 million VND/farm.

The locality also actively directed the conversion of crop structure, introducing new crops such as potatoes and sweet corn to replace ineffective crops; introducing mechanization into agricultural production, ensuring that 100% of land preparation, planting, and rice harvesting are done by machines, both increasing efficiency and freeing up labor for farmers.

In Phong Thinh commune, there is strong development in industries, services, and commerce, such as construction and carpentry teams, mechanical kiosks, and trading in trucks and excavators. Labor export is of interest to the Party Committee and government, with more than 250 workers working abroad.

By going "on many legs" economically, the average income per capita in Phong Thinh in 2024 will reach more than 57 million VND; the poverty rate will accordingly decrease to 2.54%.

In addition to economic development, the locality has paid attention to the cultural and social fields and has made many improvements. Currently, 100% of households use clean water and electricity, and have audio-visual equipment. The rate of cultural families is 91.8%.

100% of school-age children go to school; the number of students passing the university and college entrance exams increases every year. More and more children of Phong Thinh commune are successfully leaving their hometowns, many are awarded the titles of professor, doctor, excellent teacher, excellent doctor, etc.

One of the highlights in Phong Thinh commune after more than 10 years of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas is the construction of landscape, environment and rural security which has been focused on by the Party Committee, government and people with the goal of building it into a livable countryside.

The efforts of the Party Committee, the government, organizations in the political system and the people and children living far from home in Phong Thinh commune have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee through the recognition of meeting advanced new rural standards according to Decision No. 212, dated January 23, 2025.
