On the morning of April 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an inter-departmental meeting on the Ministry's research work in the first quarter of 2025 and directions for the second quarter at the Diplomatic Academy. Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong chaired the meeting with the participation of representatives of leaders of specialized units in the Ministry.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy, emphasized the new requirements for research and strategic advisory work in the context of complex and fluctuating international situations. This meeting was held to continue effectively implementing Resolution No. 01 dated March 15, 2023 of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on strengthening foreign research and advisory work, serving the planning and implementation of Party and State policies, and completing socio-economic development goals in the current period.
At the meeting, Acting Director of the Institute for Strategic and Diplomatic Studies Trinh Minh Manh reviewed the results of the Ministry's research work in the first quarter of 2025, made a number of proposals on research focuses and ways to strengthen coordination between units in the Ministry to provide accurate and timely advice to leaders at all levels. Opinions expressed at the meeting agreed on the need to promote research and advice work, while increasing resources, applying technology and new methods in this work. Based on the practical work of foreign affairs and the security and strategic environment of Vietnam, representatives of the units proposed many emerging research topics that need to be continued to be monitored in the coming time.

In his concluding remarks and instructions, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong acknowledged the proactive spirit and efforts of the units in grasping, analyzing, updating the situation and proposing research directions. The Deputy Minister stated that the current international and regional situation is posing many strategic issues, requiring research work to be sensitive, in-depth and comprehensive, contributing to policy consultation and planning, maintaining a peaceful, stable and favorable international environment, taking advantage of development conditions and resources to develop the country, entering an era of self-improvement.
Emphasizing the requirement that research work must always adhere to national interests, meeting the work requirements that the Party and State have assigned to the Foreign Affairs sector and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the focal agency for the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy, the Deputy Minister suggested a number of groups of issues that need to be focused on in the coming time, as well as ways to implement research work in a practical and effective manner.
The meeting took place in a frank and open atmosphere, affirming the attention of the Party Committee, the Ministry's leaders and the determination of the units in further improving the quality of research and advisory work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially strategic research and advisory.
