“Digitalizing” OCOP products

In implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, producers in the province not only pay attention to developing the quantity and quality of products but also focus on digital transformation in production, management and building distribution channels for products. Thanks to that, many OCOP products have expanded their consumption markets, affirming their quality and reputation with consumers through transparency of origin thanks to digital technology.

As of mid-November 2024, the province had 548 products certified with 3 to 5 star OCOP. In the face of the strong development trend of digital technology, most OCOP entities have "digitalized" one or more stages in production, business and product consumption. At the same time, this is considered a fundamental solution to increase the economic value and influence of products in the market.

In 2020, the 3-star fresh cordyceps product opened up new development opportunities for Thao Ngoc Viet Joint Stock Company (Nghi Son town) in its development orientation. Mr. Trinh Duc Trong, Director of the Company, said: “In addition to investing in machinery in the production process to create the best products, the output of the product is also a problem that we focus on. In particular, the company has registered an exclusive trademark and attached a QR code to each product, helping consumers to easily trace the origin, while maintaining the brand of this typical product. By scanning the code to look up information, consumers can grasp the entire production process and quality standards of the product, thereby comparing and contrasting to make the best choice.

It is known that through the registration of codes, barcodes and the application of digitalization of the production process, the products of Thao Ngoc Viet Joint Stock Company have created trust for consumers. Currently, many products of the unit are processed from Cordyceps, especially 3 products that have achieved 4-star OCOP, namely dried Cordyceps, whole Cordyceps, and Cordyceps capsules, which are focused on promotion and care by the unit, consumed on many platforms.

In recent times, Thanh Hoa has had many activities to support OCOP entities in promoting products and expanding consumption channels. In particular, localities have deployed many points of sale, introduced OCOP products, and connected with many conferences to promote supply and demand at provincial, regional and national levels. OCOP entities are also supported to participate in promoting and selling on e-commerce platforms. Thereby contributing to promoting and expanding the OCOP product market.

The efficiency and economic value of applying digital technology in the production and business of OCOP products have been proven. Therefore, more and more OCOP subjects and products are "digitalized" from individual stages to the entire production process. Mr. Bui Cong Anh, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Provincial New Rural Development Program Coordination, affirmed: "The "digitalization" of OCOP products is not difficult. Because besides the support of the province, we also have a team of dynamic, active production subjects with knowledge of digital transformation and digital technology".

In the first months of 2024, departments, branches, and localities have coordinated to organize many training courses to guide and support businesses, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and farmer households to participate in e-commerce platforms. In addition, departments, branches, and localities also support the introduction, promotion, and consumption of OCOP products on cyberspace. In particular, supporting entities to post information and origins of OCOP products on a number of websites such as: Ocoptinhthanhhoa.vn; nongsanantoanthanhhoa.vn; on social networking platforms Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok... and coordinating to organize the livestream session "Thanh Hoa OCOP Market" to introduce the province's specialty agricultural products. Through these activities, the whole province has about 600 OCOP entities participating in promoting and selling on e-commerce platforms, with over 1,050 products of all kinds. By putting products on e-commerce platforms, it has contributed to promoting the consumption of agricultural products and safe food in the province and helped businesses and cooperatives increase their sales by an average of 15 - 20% per year.
