Recently, Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 mobile chip version for low-cost smartphones, promising to bring similar features to mid-range or high-end phones.

This is an upgrade of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 mobile chip launched by Qualcomm in July last year. This chip line is also built on the 4nm process, helping to increase performance and save energy.

The chip is equipped with 8 processing cores, including 2 high-performance cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz to handle heavy tasks and 6 energy-saving cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz to handle light tasks and consume less energy.

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 integrates a 5G modem, providing a maximum download speed of 1Gbps. The chip also supports WiFi 5 network connectivity (instead of the newer WiFi 6 or 7), Bluetooth 5.1, and a dual-band NavIC system for increased positioning accuracy.

Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is also equipped with an AI engine to support artificial intelligence features on low-cost smartphones, notably the feature of enhancing sound quality using AI technology, helping to improve call quality, experience when playing games, listening to music or watching entertainment videos...

Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 supports smartphones with Full HD+ resolution screens, 90Hz refresh rate, LPDDR4x standard RAM, high-speed UFS 3.1 storage, 84 megapixel maximum resolution camera with fast focus, anti-noise when recording video, supports Quick Charge 4+ fast charging, allowing battery to be charged from 0 to 50% after 15 minutes of charging.

This promises that low-cost smartphone models will be equipped with many high-end features in the near future, especially 5G connectivity and AI features...

It is expected that the first smartphone using the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip will be launched in the second half of this year, in which Xiaomi will be the first company to use this new chip model.
