Southern heat wave increases in intensity

The highest temperature in the East is commonly from 34 - 36 degrees Celsius, some places are above 36 degrees Celsius such as Bien Hoa (Dong Nai) at 36.9 degrees Celsius, So Sao (Binh Duong) 36.6 degrees Celsius. Relatively low humidity is commonly from 40 - 50%, the lowest is Bien Hoa at 39.6%.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 to 48 hours, heat waves will occur widely in the Eastern provinces and locally in the Western provinces. On February 29, the heat waves will continue to increase in intensity, with some areas in the East experiencing severe heat. The highest temperature in the East will be from 35 - 37 degrees Celsius, with some places above 37 degrees Celsius; in the West, some places will be above 35 degrees Celsius. Humidity will generally be from 30 - 50%. The heat waves will last from 12 - 16 hours during the day.

At around 3pm on February 27, Ho Chi Minh City experienced widespread unseasonal rain. The rainfall was relatively moderate in Binh Chanh, Nha Be, District 7, and Thu Duc City. The rainfall in the city centre was insignificant, causing the heat to rise very strongly after days of the ground being heated, further creating a feeling of suffocation and discomfort.

It is forecasted that today and tomorrow, the heat in Ho Chi Minh City will remain at 35 - 36 degrees Celsius. In the entire Southern region, the heat is still showing no signs of abating.

Notably, in recent times, along with the prolonged heat wave, many places in the South have also experienced fire and explosion incidents. Therefore, in addition to paying attention to protecting health and avoiding prolonged exposure to heat, people need to pay attention to fire prevention in residential areas as well as forest fires.
