On the afternoon of January 7, the leader of Son Tay District (Quang Ngai) said that every time the rainy season comes, landslides in the district become very complicated, threatening many headquarters in the district. In particular, the headquarters of the Son Tay District Labor Federation has been buried by thousands of cubic meters of soil from the mountain behind for many years.
Landslide threatens many offices in mountainous district of Son Tay (Quang Ngai)
Mr. Le Van Luat, Chairman of the Labor Federation of Son Tay District, said that the construction of this agency's headquarters began in 2015 and was put into use in 2016. Because the agency is located behind a high mountain, landslides often occur during the rainy season, with a large amount of soil flowing into the agency.
"The worst landslides occurred in 2019 and 2022, causing fear among staff working at the agency. Three offices were flooded with soil, and the toilet has not been usable for three years because of the soil flowing in," said Mr. Luat.
Landslides spill a large amount of soil onto the headquarters
After the landslide, to protect the lives of officers and employees working at the Son Tay District Labor Federation, the district leaders assigned 2 working rooms at other headquarters in the area for officers and employees to work.
"The People's Committee of Son Tay District will send a document requesting the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province to support funding to overcome and repair landslides," the leader of Son Tay District added.
In addition to the District Labor Federation headquarters, other administrative offices along the main road of Son Tay District center were also covered with a large amount of mud after recent heavy rains. The surrounding fence protecting the administrative offices was also buried by landslides.

The embankment is seriously eroded.
Currently, landslides can still occur at any time when the rain has not stopped in Quang Ngai province. Many staff working here are worried and hope that the People's Committee of Son Tay district will soon have a solution to overcome the situation, in order to ensure the safety of life and property.
The headquarters of the Labor Federation, Plant Cultivation and Protection Station, Agricultural Extension Station, Finance - Planning Department and public housing... of Son Tay District were invested in construction in the period of 2011 - 2016 to form a new administrative center, with an investment capital of several billion VND. The additional capital to build embankments to prevent landslides at the headquarters alone was 10 billion VND, but landslides here continue to occur.
From November 13 to 17, 2023, in Son Tay district (Quang Ngai), 19 landslides occurred, many traffic and irrigation works were severely damaged during the flood, with estimated damage of about 20 billion VND.
