At noon on December 5, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Dinh Van Duc, Chairman of Thanh An Commune People's Committee (Minh Long District, Quang Ngai), said that the authorities are implementing plans to overcome the landslide situation on Provincial Road 624.
Thousands of cubic meters of soil and rock spilled onto Provincial Road 624, causing traffic congestion.
According to Mr. Duc, due to heavy rains in recent days, at 7:00 a.m. on December 5, rocks and soil from the mountains collapsed onto Provincial Road 624, the section passing Eo Chim Pass (in Thanh An Commune), causing traffic congestion.
According to initial records, about 8,000 cubic meters of soil and rock fell from the mountain onto the road. Fortunately, at the time of the landslide, there were no people or vehicles on this road, so there were no casualties.
This is a road section that is often subject to landslides during the rainy and stormy season, posing a danger to people and vehicles passing by.
Local authorities have put up ropes and warning signs to prevent people and vehicles from passing through the landslide site.
"Upon receiving the news, local authorities went to inspect the scene of the landslide. At the same time, they put up ropes and signs to prohibit people and vehicles from passing through. Then, they reported the incident to the district leaders and the Command Committee for Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Minh Long District," said Mr. Duc.
Leaders of Minh Long District People's Committee and relevant agencies also went to the scene to inspect and direct the landslide repair work. However, due to the large amount of soil and rock that fell onto the road, it is expected that the repair will be completed by December 6 to reopen Provincial Road 624.
Local authorities and relevant agencies went to the landslide scene to inspect.
According to the Quang Ngai Province Hydrometeorological Station, from December 6 to 7, Quang Ngai Province is likely to have rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure. Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect the operations of boats, aquaculture cages and cause the risk of coastal landslides.
