On the morning of July 14, Colonel Tran Hai Bac, Director of Truong Son Nam Department, Truong Son Construction Corporation, said that to ensure the construction of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway package, the contractor is urgently completing documents and procedures so that the sand mine can be exploited early next week.
There will soon be another sand mine serving the construction of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway. This is the second sand mine that An Giang province has assigned to Truong Son Construction Corporation to directly exploit to serve the construction of the Western expressway.
The sand mine was handed over by An Giang province to Truong Son Construction Corporation for direct exploitation to serve the construction of the Western longitudinal expressway with an area of 25.14 hectares.
The mine has a total volume of 417,398m3, with a permitted exploitation capacity of 417,398m3/year. The exploitation period is one year.
The contractor will arrange two scrapers with a bucket capacity of 3.5m3 for the sand mining site. Workers will start working from 7am to 5pm the same day, and will not mine at night.
According to Colonel Bac, in order to be able to exploit this sand mine next week, the contractor has completed determining the boundaries of the mining area, placing signs and markers in the mining area, and installing equipment to signal the mining area in accordance with regulations.
The contractor also registered mining vehicles at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) of An Giang province, installed positioning devices and monitored the journey of mining vehicles.
This is the second sand mine handed over by An Giang province to Truong Son Nam Board and Truong Son Construction Corporation for direct exploitation to serve the construction of Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.
On April 11, 2024, this contractor also exploited sand on the Hau River in Tan Hoa commune, Tan Trung commune, Phu Tan district and Binh Thuy commune, Chau Phu district.
Previously, An Giang province granted 10 sand mines, with a total reserve of 15.2 million m3, to serve the construction of two vertical and horizontal expressways in the West.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway project connects many provinces in the Mekong Delta. In phase 1, the project has a total investment of more than VND 27,200 billion, divided into two component projects including Can Tho - Hau Giang, 36.7km long, with an investment capital of over VND 9,700 billion, and the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section, 72.8km long, with a capital of nearly VND 17,500 billion. The project started on January 1, 2023, and is expected to be completed in early 2026. The total demand for sand for the entire project is about 18.1 million m3. In 2023 alone, 9.1 million m3 is needed and in 2024, 9 million m3 is needed.
