However, according to Forbes , this eclipse is also potentially dangerous because the Sun is not completely obscured by the Moon at any given time. Observing the Sun when it is partially obscured can cause eye damage.

First solar eclipse in 2025

According to scientists, the eclipse will take place on March 29 and last for about 4 hours, starting at 8:50 GMT and ending at 12:43 GMT (ie from 15:50 to 19:43 Vietnam time).

The phenomenon can be seen in various forms in northeastern North America, Greenland, Iceland, Western Europe, and parts of northern Russia. Details on the viewing experience for each specific location can be found on Timeanddate.com's eclipse calculator.

The point of maximum eclipse will be at Akulivik, an Inuit village in Nunavik, northern Quebec, Canada.

Since the sun is never completely obscured, observers must wear protective glasses or a solar filter during the entire observation. Sunglasses are strictly prohibited. Photographers should also wear a solar filter to protect their camera sensors.

Places to observe the solar eclipse

Scientists say observers in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada can witness the spectacular phenomenon of the Sun rising under a partial eclipse. To have a chance to see the phenomenon, choose a location with a clear view to the east, preferably on the coast, to watch the sunrise.

Ideal viewing locations include Forestville (Quebec), Saint Andrews (New Brunswick) and Quoddy Head State Park (Maine) - the easternmost point in the United States.

Unfortunately, Vietnam cannot observe the solar eclipse this time.

The next solar eclipse, also partial, will take place on Sunday, September 21 and will only be visible from the Southern Hemisphere, especially Antarctica and New Zealand, where the Moon will cover up to 73% of the Sun.

This will also be the last partial solar eclipse on Earth until 2029.

North America will witness a small partial solar eclipse, during the total solar eclipse event on August 12, 2026, when totality will cover Greenland, Iceland and Spain.

The next total solar eclipse in the United States will occur on March 30, 2033, in Alaska.
