Continuing the personnel work at the 7th Session, late yesterday afternoon, the National Assembly began the process of electing the President, discussing in the Delegation the list of nominees for the election of the President submitted by the National Assembly Standing Committee.
According to the meeting agenda, at the beginning of this morning's working session, the National Assembly Standing Committee reported on the explanation and reception of opinions of National Assembly deputies discussing at the Delegation on the nomination list for the National Assembly to elect the President (if any).
Then, the National Assembly discussed and voted to approve the list to elect the President and proceeded to elect the President by secret ballot.
After the Vote Counting Committee reports the vote counting results, the National Assembly Standing Committee will submit to the National Assembly a draft Resolution on the election of the President. The National Assembly will discuss and vote to approve the Resolution on the election of the President.
Next, the new President will take the oath of office and deliver his inaugural speech. The oath of office and inaugural speech will be broadcast live on television and radio.

Also on May 22, the National Assembly will conduct the process of approving members of the National Defense and Security Council at the proposal of the President and approving the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security at the proposal of the Prime Minister.
Previously, as reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, at the 9th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, the Central Committee highly agreed to introduce General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to be elected by the 15th National Assembly to hold the position of President.
