Ready for the opening day of Ky Cung - Ta Phu temple festival

– The Ky Cung – Ta Phu Temple Festival (Lang Son City) in the year of Giap Thin 2024 will take place from March 2 to March 7 (ie January 22 to 27) with many unique activities. This is one of the largest traditional festivals in Lang Son province. Up to now, the People's Committee of Lang Son City has carefully prepared the conditions to be ready for the festival.

The Ky Cung – Ta Phu Temple Festival is imbued with the traditional culture of the people of Lang Son ethnic groups, expressing gratitude and remembrance of the great contributions of two mandarins who contributed to the construction and development of the country and Lang Son in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, namely the Left Admiral Han Quan Cong Than Cong Tai (worshiped at the Ta Phu – Ky Lua Temple) and the great Mandarin Tuan Tranh (worshiped at the Ky Cung Temple).

In the festival activities, the palanquin procession takes place on two main days, January 22 and 27, of which January 27 is considered the main festival day, the most special is the cannon-head competition. This is the most unique and special part of the festival, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate. Especially during this year's festival, there are many special cultural and sports activities taking place in the city such as: raft racing on Ky Cung river; Chau Van performance, involving lion dance, Then singing, sli, Luon; Lang Son culinary contest...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee for Party Celebration, Spring Celebration and Traditional Festival of Lang Son City said: The City People's Committee has issued a document guiding member units to develop content to participate in festival activities; directed the People's Committees of Vinh Trai Ward and Hoang Van Thu Ward to establish a steering committee, assigning specific tasks to members to ensure the festival takes place successfully.

As one of the two main locations where the Ky Cung - Ta Phu temple festival takes place, Vinh Trai Ward People's Committee has made careful preparations. Mr. Luu Quang Dao, Chairman of Vinh Trai Ward People's Committee, shared: We have issued a plan and program for organizing the festival, established an organizing committee and subcommittees to serve the festival. In 2024, we proposed to change the location of the opening ceremony of the festival (from Ky Cung temple yard to the Ky Cung bridgehead area). Based on the consensus of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee directed Vinh Trai Ward People's Committee to proactively prepare well the conditions of facilities; make a layout diagram to arrange and install the stage and use a backdrop suitable for the organization space, ensuring aesthetics; ensure good security and order; deploy art performances to serve the program, contact units participating in the procession to serve the festival; coordinate with the City Police to develop traffic diversion plans...

In addition, the City People's Committee has established festival inspection teams in the city to inspect the preparation of facilities, personnel, program scripts, and plans to ensure security and order, fire prevention and fighting, and environmental sanitation; and directed relevant units to increase writing of news and articles about festival activities to promote and advertise to people and tourists.

The Ky Cung - Ta Phu Temple Festival is a cultural heritage of the city in particular and Lang Son in general. With the initiative of agencies and units of Lang Son city and the active response of the people, we believe that the Ky Cung - Ta Phu Temple Festival and related activities will take place successfully and become an attractive event for people and tourists from all over the world. Thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting the unique values of the festival according to the Project "Preserving and promoting the value of the national intangible cultural heritage of the Ky Cung - Ta Phu Temple Festival, Lang Son city, period 2021 - 2025, orientation to 2030" approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 2124/QD-UBND dated October 28, 2021.
