Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomes a large number of passengers returning to Ho Chi Minh City on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year

(Dan Tri) - On January 4, the check-in counters at the international departure hall and the domestic arrival hall of Tan Son Nhat airport were packed with passengers.


On January 4 (February 1), Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to serve more than 145,000 passengers and operate 945 flights. Of these, more than 88,000 will arrive and more than 57,000 will depart.

The atmosphere along the check-in counters was bustling from early morning. People lined up in the waiting hall, especially the international departure and domestic arrival areas. Aviation security forces were also increased to support people.

Many people said they wanted to end their vacation early to return to Ho Chi Minh City to rest and prepare for the first working days of the new year.

A representative of the Southern Airport Authority said that the number of passengers returning on the 5th (February 2) is expected to set a record of over 160,000. To quickly clear the landing passengers, Tan Son Nhat Airport has increased its staff, optimized the check-in process, and arranged additional flights to reduce the load. Bus routes and technology taxi services are also operating at full capacity to serve passengers, helping to quickly connect from the city center to the airport.

According to initial forecasts, Tan Son Nhat International Airport will welcome more than 4 million passengers from January 14 to February 12 (from December 15 to January 15). Of these, there will be more than 1.5 million international passengers and 2.5 million domestic passengers, corresponding to more than 26,000 flights.

The airport is expected to handle an average of 800 flights per day, with a peak of 970 flights. On January 22 alone (December 22), the airport actually handled 1,000 flights.
