On the evening of June 28, Mr. Pham Cong Quoc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Nam Commune (Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province) said that by about 5:00 p.m. the same day, authorities and people had extinguished the fire in the acacia forest area in the area.
Earlier, at around 4:00 p.m. the same day, the locality received information about a fire that broke out in a forest located east of Highway 129. This is a local acacia forest and part of it is a protective forest under the PACSA project.
Fire burns fiercely
Local authorities including police, militia, military command, local people and forest rangers quickly arrived at the scene to put out the fire.
Because this area has a lot of vegetation, dry leaves, hot sun and strong wind, the fire spread quite quickly, smoke billowed high around a large area. Many people traveling on Highway 129 had their vision obstructed by smoke. The fierce fire burned a large area of forest trees and vegetation on the ground.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the fire.

According to the report of the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection Department, from the beginning of 2023 to now, there have been 17 forest fires in the province with a forest fire area of more than 46 hectares, mostly concentrated in the protective forest area under the PACSA project in the eastern communes of the province.
