Rory McIlroy receives biggest prize in The Masters history

The 35-year-old Northern Irishman overcame Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off to complete the career Grand Slam.

Thanks to that effort, McIlroy finally got the prestigious green jacket he had been waiting for after 11 years of "thirst" for a major title.

Sharing with the media, McIlroy said: "It feels really unbelievable, I've been waiting for this for a long time. My dream has finally come true."

And of course, McIlroy's bank account also increased significantly after this event. The total prize fund at The Masters 2025 at Augusta National is 21 million USD, of which McIlroy received the highest prize of 4.2 million USD. He became the first person in the history of the tournament to receive more than 4 million USD.

The Masters prize money has continued to change since LIV Golf was introduced. In 2025, the total prize fund and the champion's prize will increase again, marking the fourth consecutive year of increases.

A year ago, Scottie Scheffler took home $3.6 million for his second Masters win. Jon Rahm, with his 2023 win, became the first to top $3 million ($3.24 million).

Meanwhile, the first person to reach the $2 million mark was none other than Tiger Woods in 2019 when he won his fifth green jacket. Tiger was also the first person to receive a bonus of over $1 million when he won in 2005 with a payout of $1.26 million.
