Last July, the culinary website announced the list of "100 best stir-fried dishes in Asia" with 5 representatives from Vietnam: stir-fried water spinach with garlic (13th), stir-fried pho (27th), stir-fried vermicelli with crab (65th), stir-fried chayote with garlic (68th) and stir-fried snails (71st).
Ranked highest among the Vietnamese dishes on the list with 4.3/5 stars, stir-fried morning glory with garlic is described by Taste Atlas as "a traditional Vietnamese dish suitable for vegetarians, a great side dish with white rice".
The secret to making delicious stir-fried water spinach with garlic, according to culinary experts, lies in blanching the vegetables before stir-frying them with garlic and a sauce mixture of salt, sugar and fish sauce.
Another Vietnamese stir-fried vegetable dish that was honored was "stir-fried chayote with garlic". This root vegetable originated from Sa Pa, and is known for its refreshing and crunchy taste. Stir-fried chayote with garlic is a combination of chayote, garlic, fish sauce, and oil.
The remaining Vietnamese dishes on the list are so popular with both domestic and foreign tourists that they certainly don't come as much of a surprise.
Other representatives in the top 10 include stir-fried cabbage chicken (Dak galbi) from Korea, phat kaphrao from Thailand, nasi goreng ayam (Indonesia), pad Thai, stir-fried beef (China), stir-fried shrimp (China), Gongbao chicken (China)...
Founded in 2015, Taste Atlas (headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia) is known as a map that brings together traditional dishes from around the world.
According to Matija Babić, founder of Taste Atlas , the food and beverage rankings are based on opinions and reviews from experts and food critics to ensure the reliability of the awards.
