Traffic accidents are complicated
In 2024, the work of ensuring traffic safety and order continues to receive the attention and direction of leaders at all levels, sectors and localities. In particular, propaganda work is strengthened and diversified in forms, focusing on digital platforms to change awareness and change behavior in the whole society. In particular, patrolling, controlling and strictly handling violations are promoted in the spirit of throughout Tet and holidays, without exception, contributing to reducing traffic accidents.

However, the traffic safety situation is still complicated. Although the number of cases, injuries and particularly serious traffic accidents have decreased, the number of deaths due to traffic accidents has increased. There were 208 cases in the province, killing 106 people and injuring 156 people; Traffic accidents mainly occurred on national highways with 129 cases, accounting for 63.2%. The situation of gathering, driving in groups, and signs of illegal racing still occurs in some localities.

The cause was determined to be the limited awareness of law compliance of a portion of traffic participants. Statistics show that common violations include speeding, alcohol and drug levels, driving in the wrong lane, not paying attention, and not wearing a helmet.
From April 2024, the traffic diversion on the Cam Lo - La Son expressway has caused the volume of passenger cars and heavy trucks to travel on National Highway 1 through urban areas in the province, leading to increased traffic accidents. Propaganda work has been promoted but there is a lack of guidance on safe traffic skills. Traffic volume is increasing. Many key projects are being implemented in the area, so the demand for material transportation is increasing, posing a potential risk of traffic safety loss...
Strict handling to form good awareness
Speaking at the meeting on tasks and solutions to ensure traffic safety and order in 2025, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized: The birth of the Road Law and the Road Traffic Safety and Order Law is not only legal but also a strong affirmation of the determination of the Party, State and the entire people in reducing traffic accidents and building a civilized and modern traffic culture.

In 2025, two key tasks must be thoroughly and effectively implemented: promoting propaganda, raising awareness and strictly handling violations. In particular, the propaganda task is of primary concern and must target high-risk groups that directly cause traffic accidents, such as students, university students and young people.
Propaganda must be diversified in form, focusing on direct propaganda for youth in mountainous areas. Promote the role and responsibility of the education sector and schools in propagating to students. In addition, Decree 168 must be disseminated to the people early, especially the new regulations.
Regarding handling violations, strengthen patrols, control, and launch peak periods to strictly handle violations to deter and gradually form good traffic participation awareness. Focus on applying digital technology in patrolling and handling, invest in installing additional surveillance camera systems to handle violations, reducing pressure on the traffic police force.
Regarding the situation of the traffic lights operating intermittently as reported by the media recently, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: In principle, the traffic light system must operate 24/24 hours, except in cases of force majeure. The intermittent operation of the traffic light system cannot be blamed on the weather or solar energy technology.
Relevant units must urgently inspect and review to find immediate solutions; in cases where there are solutions but solar energy technology cannot meet weather conditions, they must switch to using grid electricity. Invest early in lighting systems on national highways, especially at intersections between national highways and other routes.
