Putting many projects into operation
In the first quarter, the city actively accelerated the progress of key projects to put them into operation. On January 16, Da Nang Software Park No. 2 on Nhu Nguyet Street (Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District) put into use the ICT1 building with 8 floors, a total floor area of over 39,000m2 , an exploitation area of 21,000m2; in which priority is given to partners, strategic investors, small businesses, innovative businesses in the field of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
Thus, up to now, Da Nang has formed one more software park, the whole city currently has four concentrated information technology parks, along with information technology parks being planned and built to promote the city's economic restructuring. Also on this occasion, the city and its partners (Marvel Vietnam Co., Ltd., FPT Corporation, Sovico Group Corporation) exchanged a memorandum of understanding. Accordingly, the parties will cooperate in investing in research, technology development and resources in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries.
In order to concretize the cooperation commitment, on March 27, FPT Corporation held the opening ceremony of the R&D Center (Research and Development) on high technology and semiconductor chips with a total area of nearly 3,000m2 on the 8th floor, ICT1 building, Da Nang Software Park No. 2. The center aims to gather 500 technology experts to work by 2025 and expand in the future. Here, 100% of FPT products will be researched and developed, with an average of 10 new products expected to be launched each year.
Also on March 27, Danang International Data Center Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Data Center at Lot H4, Danang High-Tech Park. The project has a total investment of VND800 billion in phase 1, VND1,200 billion in phase 2, with a scale of 1,000 racks (equipment for storing and managing electronic devices in data centers) and a load capacity of 18.5 MW, initially forming a regional data center and a regional-scale data center in Danang.
Previously, on February 18, the city launched the Hoa Ninh Industrial Park (IP) project with a total area of 400 hectares, a total investment of more than VND 6,200 billion, of which VND 930 billion is contributed by investors, the rest is mobilized capital. The project is implemented in Hoa Ninh commune, Hoa Vang district with a maximum implementation time of 42 months from the date of land handover, operating for 50 years. Hoa Ninh IP is expected to contribute to the formation of an industrial - high-tech - free trade zone ecosystem in the northwest of the city, promoting the supply chain, creating thousands of quality jobs and spreading positively to areas such as logistics, tourism, and services.
In parallel with the above key projects, many important traffic and construction infrastructures were started and completed by the city and investors in the first quarter, such as: technical traffic opening of Quang Da bridge and the bridge approach road; groundbreaking of Thuan Phuoc - Da Nang New Urban Area; groundbreaking of the project to renovate the drainage system and underground cables of 4 central streets (Phan Chau Trinh, Le Loi, Hoang Dieu and Ong Ich Khiem)... thereby creating infrastructure to promote economic development.

Economic sectors with positive growth
According to the socio-economic situation report for March and the first quarter of 2025 of the Da Nang City Statistics Office, in the 11.36% increase of the city's GRDP, the growth of added value of the entire service sector in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated at 10.07% over the same period in 2024, contributing 7.16 percentage points to the GRDP growth.
In the service sector, some industries had high double-digit added value in the first quarter, including: accommodation and catering services increased by 19.45%; real estate business activities increased by 19.24%; administrative activities and support services increased by 15.64%; other service activities increased by 16.38%... The remaining industries maintained a good growth rate compared to the same period in 2024. The above results were obtained from Da Nang organizing many activities and events to stimulate domestic and international tourism.
For international visitors, units and organizations have participated in many tourism fairs in potential markets such as India, Australia, Korea, etc. to promote the image of Da Nang city; at the same time, continue to focus on investing in forming an ecosystem and tourism products to attract the super-rich class, etc. For domestic visitors, the tourism industry has strengthened tourism promotion activities in localities. The city has also implemented many programs to promote products and stimulate consumption.
In the first quarter of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated at VND 37,530 billion, up 24% over the same period in 2024, of which retail sales of goods increased by 19.3%; accommodation and catering services increased by 21.1%, tourism and travel increased by 20%, other services increased by 42.3% over the same period in 2024.
Along with the service sector, industrial production activities continued to record positive results, the added value of both the industrial and construction sectors in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated to increase by 17.6%, contributing 3.06 percentage points to the GRDP growth of the entire economy. In particular, the industrial sector continued to recover strongly, contributing positively to the growth of the entire industry with an increase of 9.51%, contributing 1.22 points. In particular, the construction sector maintained a clear transformation since the fourth quarter of 2024 and achieved an increase of 39.96% in the first quarter of 2025, contributing 1.85 percentage points to the GRDP growth.
Mr. Tran Van Vu, Head of the Da Nang City Statistics Office, assessed that the results achieved in the first quarter were favorable for the city's economy to aim for a growth target of over 10% for the whole year of 2025. However, to ensure growth results in 2025, the city needs to continue implementing synchronous solutions.
For the investment and construction sector, this is one of the driving forces, a bright spot promoting positive growth in the first quarter that needs to be maintained. Accordingly, the city needs to continue focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles for projects and businesses, speeding up the progress of public investment projects and works to ensure progress. In order to maintain the growth rate of the tourism sector, the city needs to improve the quality of tourism services and human resources, and deploy new tourism products...
To have resources for implementation, the banking sector needs to develop credit towards production and business sectors, priority sectors according to the Government's policy; implement solutions to create favorable conditions for customers to access credit capital.
Average CPI in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 3.03% According to the City Statistics Office, the average CPI in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 3.03% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 9/11 commodity groups had an increase in price index and 2/11 commodity groups had a decrease in price index. Groups with an increase in price index: medicine and medical services increased by 18.79%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 5.97%; other goods and services increased by 5.79%; education increased by 2.79%; beverages and tobacco increased by 2.23%; food and catering services increased by 2.22%; post and telecommunications increased by 1.8%; clothing, hats, footwear increased by 1.64%; household appliances and equipment increased by 1.07%.
