The 30-4 - 1-5-2025 holiday will last for 5 days (from 30-4 - 4-5). Currently, airfares to many tourist destinations are high and the booking rate is almost full. Therefore, passengers who want to own cheap airfares need to take the initiative in their schedule and time to find affordable prices.
Sky-high ticket prices
According to the survey data on ticket prices on some routes of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, on the first day of the holiday (April 29), the price of economy class tickets for the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route is currently listed by airlines at a range of 3.4-3.74 million VND depending on the airline.
Specifically, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines listed the highest ticket prices at around VND3.6 million and VND3.7 million, while Vietjet Air offered slightly lower prices, ranging from VND2.9-3.68 million, and Vietravel Airlines recorded prices of up to VND3.41 million. The above prices are equivalent to the prices recorded during the Lunar New Year 2025.
On the Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang route, the ticket price for the flight on April 29 was also recorded at a high level, from 2.5 million VND with Vietnam Airlines, while Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways had prices ranging from 1.5-2.2 million VND.
The Hanoi-Da Nang route has a higher ticket price of 2.3-3.5 million VND with Vietnam Airlines, and 1.9-2.4 million VND with other airlines.
Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, Vietnam Airlines listed the highest ticket price at 4.5 million VND, while Vietjet Air's price ranged from 2.7-4.3 million VND; Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc ticket price ranged from 1.6-2.7 million VND. Hanoi-Cam Ranh flight price ranged from 3.3-3.7 million VND.
In the opposite direction, from tourist destinations back to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, ticket prices gradually increase during the last days of the holiday.
Specifically, according to a survey conducted on May 4, the highest recorded ticket price for the Cam Ranh-Hanoi route was 3.68 million VND by Vietjet Air, while the remaining airlines are currently out of economy class tickets.
On the Cam Ranh-Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietjet Air recorded a price of 1.8 million VND, while Vietnam Airlines' highest price was up to 2.7 million VND.
On the Phu Quoc-Hanoi route on May 4, all economy class tickets are sold out, while on the Phu Quoc-Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines' ticket prices range from 1.9-2.7 million VND, while the remaining airlines (Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines) all record an average price of 1.8 million VND.
A representative of Bamboo Airways said that in the context of a volatile market, Bamboo Airways strives to maintain a stable flight schedule with a wide range of fares and optimal prices to serve people's travel needs during the April 30 - May 1 holidays.
Bamboo Airways plans to maximize operating capacity, especially on days with high travel demand such as April 30 - May 1 for priority key routes such as Hanoi-Cam Ranh/Quy Nhon/Da Lat/Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc/Da Lat.
Many flights are running out of tickets
Updating the booking situation on domestic flights to tourist destinations during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that during the beginning of the holiday (from April 29 to May 4, 2025), the booking rate on tourist routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the localities mostly reached over 50% in the first days of the holiday (April 29-30). These are the days when passengers start to take the holiday and travel to domestic tourist destinations.
Some routes have reached 85-100% booking rate on April 30 such as: Hanoi-Thua Thien-Hue (89%), Hanoi-Tuy Hoa (94%), Hanoi-Chu Lai (95%), Hanoi-Dong Hoi (103%), Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc (87%), Ho Chi Minh City-Con Dao (92.7%), Ho Chi Minh City-Tuy Hoa (100%)...
At the end of the holiday (from May 3 to 4), the booking rate showed a high increase on flights from the local area back to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. In particular, some routes had high booking rates such as: Nha Trang-Ho Chi Minh City (98%), Tuy Hoa-Ho Chi Minh City (97%), Phu Quoc-Hanoi (100%), Tuy Hoa-Hanoi (99%), Dong Hoi-Hanoi (103%)...
For the main routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Hanoi - Da Nang, Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, the occupancy rate is still at an average level, reaching an average of 30-60%. Particularly, the Hanoi - Da Nang route and vice versa has reached over 70% and is showing an increasing trend.
To meet the demand for air transport during the April 30 - May 1 holidays, according to the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, on domestic routes, Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights/day), an increase of 24% and 21% respectively; providing about 1.5 million seats, an increase of 20% compared to the flight schedule before increasing flights and 22% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, the largest proportion is flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City with 5,083 flights (average 462 flights/day), up 21% and 21% respectively; supply reached 1.03 million seats, up 21% and 21.9% respectively.
Particularly for the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnamese airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, up 8% and 16% respectively; providing 305,000 seats, up 7% and 11% respectively compared to the flight schedule before the increase in flights and the same period in 2024.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has increased the coordination parameters to 46 flights/hour during daytime hours and 36 flights/hour during nighttime hours at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the April 30 - May 1 holiday period.
