A container truck collapsed a gantry crane and crushed a bus, causing a 6km traffic jam on Highway 1 for more than three hours on the afternoon of January 28.
After 1 p.m., a 40-foot cargo trailer was traveling on Highway 1 from An Suong intersection to Thu Duc City. When approaching Quang Trung overpass, the roof of the truck's cargo trailer broke the gantry with a 4.3 m height limit sign across the lane.

The container truck continued to drag the steel frame and hit a nearby bus, only stopping when it hit a concrete beam under the overpass. The accident caused the bus' windshield to break and the front to be damaged, but fortunately, the 10 passengers on board were not injured.
Two vehicles had an accident and a nearly 5-meter long steel pillar was uprooted and lying across the road, causing a traffic jam on Highway 1 from the intersection of Road No. 1, Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Binh Tan District to Quang Trung Overpass. Police then arrived at the scene to take stock of the situation and direct traffic. By 4:30 p.m., the vehicles involved in the accident and the gantry crane were removed to clear the congestion.
