On the afternoon of March 31, at the National Assembly House, under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on the preparation for the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.

In his opening speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that as planned, the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly will take place from May 5 to June 30, passing 11 draft laws and giving first opinions on 16 other draft laws.
This is a session with many important contents related to socio-economics, national defense and security, and the building of the country's political system. In particular, at the 9th session, the National Assembly will also consider amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution and amending laws related to amending the Constitution, in order to serve the streamlining of the apparatus.
Emphasizing that the 9th session has a huge workload, is important and historic, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Government to direct relevant agencies to actively prepare the session's contents, especially draft laws to be submitted to the National Assembly for approval, and related resolutions.
The National Assembly Chairman also requested that the National Assembly Standing Committee closely coordinate with the Nationalities Council and the National Assembly's committees to urgently deploy work in the spirit of "running while lining up" to ensure the quality and success of the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Reporting at the meeting, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Tung said that it is expected that at the 9th session, in addition to the content of amending the Constitution, the National Assembly will consider and decide on 44 contents related to legislative work; 12 groups of contents on socio-economics, state budget, supervision and other important issues; at the same time, there are 8 groups of contents that agencies will send reports for National Assembly deputies to study.
Regarding the duration of the session, the total working time of the National Assembly is expected to be 35.5 days, opening on May 5 and closing on the morning of July 1. The National Assembly will meet at the National Assembly House, divided into 2 periods: the first period of 20 days (from Thursday, May to the end of May 28); the second period of 15.5 days (from June 11 to the morning of July 1); the National Assembly's break between the two periods is 13 days.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly also requested the Standing Committee of the National Assembly to report to the National Assembly for permission to continue to shorten the time for presenting proposals and reports as it did at the 8th session to reserve time for the National Assembly to discuss and for agencies to speak and explain. At the same time, reports on thrift practice, waste prevention and the results of implementing the national goal of gender equality in 2024 will not be presented, but only discussed in conjunction with the discussion session on socio-economics and state budget for the above two contents.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee consider and decide to open the session earlier than usual, on May 5. At the same time, to ensure high consensus, it is proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee consider asking for the opinions of National Assembly deputies on organizing the session earlier than prescribed before convening the session (after having the conclusion of the competent authority on organizing the session).
