On the morning of August 5, 2024, in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province, the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Plan for the period 2025-2030 between Quang Tri province (Vietnam) and Mukdahan province (Thailand) took place.
On economic, investment, trade and tourism cooperation:
The two sides will support and provide information, introduce opportunities, and create favorable conditions for businesses of each side to learn, access and research information on potential and investment opportunities in each province to implement cooperation activities on trade and investment; take turns organizing conferences and seminars on investment and trade promotion in each province; encourage and create favorable conditions for businesses of the two localities to regularly participate in Trade Fairs, develop distribution channels for goods, develop e-commerce, and connect businesses. In particular, priority will be given to cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture; cooperation in the field of seafood processing.
The two sides support and facilitate trade promotion. Prioritize and have practical support policies in the spirit of the special relationship between the two provinces and the two countries for enterprises investing in promoting and introducing Mukdahan products in Quang Tri and Quang Tri products in Mukdahan.
Support and facilitate the promotion and encouragement of cooperation in tourism, passenger and cargo transport; agree to direct the trade and tourism sectors of the two provinces to build joint tours and tourist routes between the two localities, connect the transportation system to serve the development of trade and tourism; coordinate the organization of exchange events in the fields of culture, arts, physical education and sports to introduce and promote culture and tourism between the two sides.
Strengthening the exchange, sharing of information, and coordination and mutual support on international and regional issues of mutual concern for the peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world. Researching and selecting to organize a number of unique cultural and people-to-people exchange activities, contributing to enhancing understanding and promoting cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.
On cooperation in training, labor and human resource development:
Consider supporting and encouraging universities and colleges of the two sides in exchanging lecturers and students. Create conditions for universities and colleges to unify the implementation of cooperation contents, including granting scholarships to students.
Organize vocational training, especially high-quality vocational training. Promote, facilitate and cooperate in development, improve the quality of human resources in the field of vocational education. Encourage cooperation and exchange of labor resources, first of all in the field of tourism. Train and improve labor capacity and qualifications in accordance with labor market needs to meet labor shifts in the ASEAN Community.
Regarding communication and promotion activities:
Continue to coordinate and actively participate in events of the two sides and provinces on the East-West Economic Corridor. Media agencies need to regularly exchange and cooperate in creating video clips, reports, and documentaries introducing the land, people, scenic spots, and historical and cultural relics of the province and locality to broadcast on radio and television stations of each province. Cooperate in introducing typical authors and works of Vietnamese and Thai literature in general, Quang Tri and Mukdahan in particular in magazines and cultural and artistic columns of each province.
Strengthening exchanges, learning experiences, and exchanging information on craft village products according to the OTOP model of Thailand and Mukdahan or the OCOP model of Vietnam and Quang Tri to further strongly implement the craft village development model of the two sides and carry out friendship and cooperation activities, including promoting and supporting the connection activities of overseas Vietnamese in Mukdahan province.
At the ceremony, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung said: This meeting opens up many new opportunities, creating momentum for development in the cooperative relationship between the two provinces in the ASEAN Economic Community. This is an important milestone, which has been successfully developed after the Thailand Meeting Conference, demonstrating the determination and goodwill to strengthen cooperation between the two provinces, contributing to promoting good cooperative relations between the two countries. Quang Tri and Mukdahan have many similarities in culture, natural conditions and many potentials and advantages in natural resources and human resources; both are located on the East-West Economic Corridor, connecting Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. Therefore, he hopes that in the coming time, the two provinces will continue to strengthen effective cooperation in all fields in accordance with the potential and strengths of each side as well as the current trend of deep regional and international integration. Immediately after signing, Quang Tri will assign the departments to issue specific programs and plans for implementation.
In addition, the two Parties will consult each other on holding a rotating meeting every two years in each Party to evaluate the implementation of this Cooperation Plan. The next meeting will be hosted by Mukdahan Province, expected in 2026.
