The 2023-2024 Round the World Yacht Race brings together nearly 400 sailors, 11 sailboats divided into 8 legs with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings. The destination of Ha Long is in the 5th race called "Asia-Pacific challenge". After docking at Ha Long International Cruise Port, the sailors participate in a number of activities in Quang Ninh.
To promote the destination image, Quang Ninh province will organize a number of activities such as: Reception ceremony, welcoming racing teams to Quang Ninh; Program to introduce local products (OCOP) and promote Quang Ninh tourism at Ha Long International Passenger Port area; tour program, survey destination for Clipper Race crew; conference to promote, advertise and attract investment in Quang Ninh tourism associated with the Award Ceremony of the race...
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said that the 2023-2024 Round the World Yacht Race is a special event, an opportunity to promote the image of Ha Long in the eyes of international friends.
According to Ms. Yen: "Quang Ninh province is known as a miniature image of Vietnam with beautiful nature, unique culture, and friendly people. This is where Ha Long Bay has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage three times. We hope that everyone will enjoy the first meaningful days of the new year in Ha Long city (Quang Ninh) and spread the beauty of Ha Long, Quang Ninh, and Vietnam to their hometowns and the regions where the delegations will visit."
Accompanying her husband on the race, Mrs. Helen Ardman excitedly said: "I am very proud of him, his team won this stage. He started training a year ago to participate in the race. Our family came here and took a cruise to visit Ha Long Bay. The scenery here is wonderful, the people are very hospitable. We still have many wishes to experience in Ha Long such as visiting the pearl farm, fishing villages, taking the cable car, enjoying Quang Ninh cuisine and many other activities."
On March 2, the boats are expected to leave Ha Long Bay and continue their journey to Jiuzhou Port (Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China). Before arriving at Ha Long Bay, the racing boats departed from Coral Sea Marina Resort (Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Region, Queensland State, Australia).
