11 sailing teams continue their journey from Vietnam to China

After finishing race number 7 and nearly two weeks of stopping in Ha Long city, on March 2, the organizers of the Clipper Race held a ceremony to restart the 2023-2024 season with a route from Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam to Zhuhai city, Guangdong province, China.

From Ha Long International Cruise Port, all 11 teams in the 2023-2024 Clipper Race started the next round and paraded around Ha Long Bay.

The launch was solemnly held with rituals including: the traditional rope pulling ceremony, dragon and lion dance, paragliding, luxury yacht parade on Ha Long Bay and racing boat parade.

After the parade, the teams headed straight to the race starting point at buoy 0 to continue their journey to Jiuzhou port, China.

The 2023-2024 Round the World Yacht Race will feature nearly 400 sailors on 11 yachts, divided into eight legs with 16 individual races and six ocean crossings.

Among the racing teams, there is a racing boat from Quang Ninh province with the name: "HaLong Bay, Viet Nam". In race number 7, in the 5th leg, there is a sea distance of 4,515 nautical miles called "Asia - Pacific Challenge" with the starting point at Coral Sea port, Australia and the destination is Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam.

By the end of February 19, all 11 participating racing teams had finished 2 days ahead of schedule and the "HaLong Bay, Viet Nam" racing team finished in 5th place and is currently ranked 6th in the overall rankings.

The Clipper Race began in October 1996 in Plymouth, UK. To date, the race has hosted more than 50 cities around the world.

During the two-week stay of the racing teams in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, many cultural and artistic events were held to welcome the team and conferences were held to promote, advertise and attract investment in Quang Ninh tourism.

Thereby, it aims to introduce and promote the image of local tourism as well as introduce opportunities, potentials, and investment attraction projects in the province to international friends and potential investors.
