On August 24, Ha Long City will organize the "Overcoming Ha Long Waves - 2024" Sailboat, Parachute, and Jet Ski Festival, followed by the "Heritage City - Ha Long Colors" Hot Air Balloon Festival on September 1-2 in 2024. With these two special events, Ha Long City aims to welcome 10 million visitors in 2024 instead of 8.7 million visitors as planned.
Bringing new and exciting experiences
The sailing, parasailing and jet skiing festival on Ha Long Bay, called "Overcoming Ha Long Waves - 2024", will open at 5:30 p.m. on August 24 at the water area opposite Vincom and Ha Long Flower Park. The festival is chaired by the City People's Committee with the participation and support of Ha Long Sailing Club; Parasailing of Gio Bien Sports and Tourism Joint Stock Company (Team Sky Rider); Silver Surf Vietnam Jet Ski Club; VMES Yacht Services Co., Ltd.; Ha Long Jet Ski Club, etc.
It is expected that about 60 vehicles, 15 jet skis, 12 jet skis and 5 parachutes will participate in the festival with special performances.
According to the program, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on August 24, the sailboat team will depart from Tuan Chau beach and move to Ocean Park beach; continue the parade to the beach opposite Ha Long Flower Park. At the end of the parade, the sailboat team will gather in formation to prepare for a performance with parachutes, jet skis and jet skis.
From 5pm to 8pm on August 24, 12 jet skis will perform in formation, parading with the national flag. The motor ski team will depart from Hon Gai Passenger Port along the coast to the coastal area opposite Ha Long Flower Park. At the same time, the jet ski team will perform around the coastal area opposite Ha Long Flower Park; the parasailing team departing from 30/10 Square will also enter the performance area on the coast opposite Ha Long Flower Park. This is also the highlight of the program "Overcoming the Waves of Ha Long - 2024".
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Viet, Chairman of Ha Long Sailing Club said: As soon as we received information that the city would organize a large-scale festival combining 4 different types, we contacted more than 100 members nationwide, from major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hue ... to participate in the festival. All performance sailboats are catamarans, made of new materials according to European standards and styles, operating flexibly and stably in all conditions with outstanding safety features. Through the festival, it will create opportunities for lovers of these sports across the country to come to Ha Long City to perform, exchange and contribute to the development of new sports. In particular, Ha Long Bay has special advantages for sport sailing when it is sheltered by mountain ranges outside the bay and onshore, creating very safe conditions for sailing activities. Not only that, when it comes to autumn and winter, the most gloomy time of Ha Long tourism, this is the golden time for sailing boats to operate and perform. Therefore, we hope that after the festival, the province will allow the organization of a national sailing race on Ha Long Bay and grant a license for this sport to operate regularly and continuously throughout the year.
For the Hot Air Balloon Festival with the theme "Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long" in 2024 taking place on September 1-2, there will also be very attractive and unique activities such as: Hot air balloon flying; hot air balloon sightseeing; hot air balloon flower lantern night; hot air balloon decorating the ground. The venue is at 30/10 Square and Ocean Park Beach. For sightseeing activities inside the hot air balloon, it will take place at 30/10 Square from 7:30-9:30 and from 15:30 every day.
The hot air balloon night will be held from 7:30 p.m. on September 2 at October 30 Square. The ground decoration balloons will take place on September 1 and 2, 2024 at October 30 Square. In addition to the hot air balloon festival, there will be a supporting activity of paragliding. The flight route from Bai Chay will fly over Cua Luc Bay to October 30 Square and vice versa.
In particular, Ha Long City will issue free tickets for people and tourists to experience flying and visiting hot air balloons.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City, shared: When I learned that the city would organize a sailing, parasailing, jet skiing and hot air balloon festival on the occasion of September 2nd at locations convenient for people to visit and experience, I immediately shared information related to the festivals with my friends. Many of my friends were excited and eager and decided to choose Ha Long to enjoy the holiday. After the success of the Ha Long Fun Wheels Festival 2024 held in July 2024 and with these two attractive festivals, Ha Long is taking the right and creative direction when targeting young people, those who love to explore, take risks and like new and unique things.
Kicking off a new holiday season
These two festivals are held for the first time but are both large-scale, at very beautiful locations, on Ha Long Bay and the shore of the Heritage Bay, right next to residential areas. At the same time, the festivals combine many different types of sports. Up to now, the People's Committee of Ha Long City has issued plans, built, approved the program content and urgently prepared facilities, equipment, and personnel, ensuring the correct schedule for each festival.
For the Sailing, Parasailing, and Jet Ski Festival "Overcoming Ha Long Waves - 2024", club members have been actively practicing since July. In particular, because the festival mobilizes nearly 100 underwater vehicles with the participation of 4 different types of sports, the city has developed a very detailed underwater rescue plan, assigned to the City Military Command to preside over. The city police and the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station will arrange 2 boats to patrol, closely follow the parade team and be on duty at the performance area to check and handle any arising situations.
The city will also organize traffic diversion at sea, prohibiting vehicles from circulating at festival locations; mobilize 2 rescue boats to closely follow the entire formation, apply rescue response procedures throughout the parade and ensure the safety of members and participating boats.
On the afternoon of August 20, the authorities and club members conducted a field survey, measured the tide level, reviewed traffic diversion plans, parking locations, and rescue work; on the afternoon of August 21, the clubs organized the movement of vehicles to the assembly point and practiced the formation according to the scenario; on the afternoon of August 22, they organized the formation and tested the rescue plan to prepare for the official performance day on August 24.
For the Hot Air Balloon Festival, it is expected that there will be about 20 hot air balloons participating, including: hanging hot air balloons, performance hot air balloons, performed by experienced pilots. Currently, the City People's Committee is also closely coordinating with the hot air balloon flight organizer to build a detailed schedule, ensuring appropriate and effective flight activities, bringing people and tourists extremely impressive experiences and interesting, unforgettable feelings when admiring from above the beautiful, majestic, poetic space of Ha Long City. Rescue plans on land, at sea, ensuring traffic safety, security and order around the festival venue will also be strictly managed, controlled and proactively handled in case of unexpected situations.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee shared: Ha Long is actively implementing the project "Ha Long - Festival City" with new tourism products to contribute to bringing the images and beauty of Ha Long to a large number of friends and domestic and international tourists. At the same time, it aims to breathe new life into the tourism atmosphere of Quang Ninh province in the coming days. We also expect that from the local creative way of preserving and honoring traditional festivals, developing new festivals will meet the entertainment and cultural enjoyment needs of the people. Thereby, gradually forming a brand for cultural festivals and tourism unique to the city on the edge of heritage.
So far, the preparations for the festivals are being completed to await the opening day. And with careful preparation in both content and organization, the Sailing, Parasailing, and Jet Ski Festival “Overcoming the Waves of Ha Long - 2024” and the Hot Air Balloon Festival “Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long” in 2024 promise to create a special attraction for people and tourists in Ha Long City.
